If a fighter is being outclass to the point that he can't win and he's getting BANGED....what would you as a fan or trainer have him do.....quit and live to fight another day or give the fans that pay to see you a climatic conclusion and go out on your shield?

Well as a fan you like to see a guy go on. As a trainer he shouldn't have to quit because you should know when to step in and stop the fight.

Quitting is worse. Not really a question about it, a champion going out on their shield is one of the most admirable scenes in boxing even if it is depressing. Of course, Frazier's quitting against Ali is excused and others are as well but quitting like Peter against Vitali or Vitali against Byrd is inexcusable.

Both go down in the "L" column.
But only one can't be forgiven & will follow them around like a shadow.
Boxing does not forgive quitting, or the admittance of not having heart to finish a fight.
(If you can knock someone out, Then have the heart to get knocked out aswell)

Fraizer didn't quit. But yeah quitting is worse. Although it's not that simple, many of these guys are FORCED to "go out on their shield" cause they get knocked out and not taken to really dark places.

As a trainer you need to take in the variables. Is he getting hit hard and often? Does he have a punchers chance? Does he have the morale to continue? When you make a decision for your fighter you better know what the right one is.

Both bring their share of negative comments so both are even in my opinion. In the end they're both looked as losses.

A responsible ref would stop the fight already at this moment.

As fans, of course we want to see them fight till the end but we're on the outside looking in and nobody knows what it is to be a fighter unless youve fought inside that squared circle..

I know because im a born fighter.

U gotta think, is entertaining fans worth the risk of being braindead? I wouldnt risk getting my head beat in continously, just to entertain people who are gonna forget me when im in a nursing home

I personally applauded Ortiz when he said I wanna be able to speak when im old. Sure, people safely watching at home will criticise you, but your saftey and health is much more inportant
