How so?? Taylor had a hell of a lot deeper division to choose from. I don't want to go here cause I'm a huge fan of Taylor's, but even he, after beating Mr. Hopkins fought Winky (arguably best @ 154, but great fighter), then Ouma=154, and Spinks = 154....then he fought Pavlik.

Both Sturm and AA were around then too. 154 was a lot hotter it seemed, and the 154's had more reason to try to come to '60 then, where as now for obvious reasons it makes sense to try to get down to '47.

Pavlik has a lot less options now that Miranda and Taylor have moved out, Winky was all but gone from the map, and the '54's can make better money at WW.

Pavlik/Abraham is shaping up to look a lot like Calzaghe/Lacy. Tons of people are hyping an undefeated, but vastly over rated, titlist to take out the best in the division. The same people insist that the best man is "ducking" the over-hyped titlist. In the end we'll get s similar result, but the end result will be much worse for Arthur than it was for Jeff, because Kelly ain't no slapper.

Sure I do but I'm just mentioning facts there, did I say that Pavlik fought Mora or anything ridiculous to suggest I'm hating?, don't think so man.

Taylor might have fought x2 154lbers but look at what plans he had. His first defense was a rematch with Hopkins, then came Winky Wright at a time when he was considered ducked by all, Spinks and Ouma followed after those. They also had plans to fight Abraham/Miranda winner, the injury pushed Abraham out of the scene so it was Pavlik/Miranda winner. Taylor wanted to fight everyone available, he could have done the same for Pavlik and told him to be more popular.

Quick, call Sauerland and explain to him that the champ does not take the small end of the money! Maybe then the fight will happen. Until Sauerland gets serious with something besides press releases, the fight won't happen.

You're puttin' me in a hell of a hard spot here! One is my fave and the other is tied for 2nd with about 3-4 other cats. I can't argue against Taylor, damn it!

BUT, are you tryin' to say Taylor could have NOT fought Pavlik??!! After Pavlik won TWO WBC eliminators in a row, both on HBO, and one of them was on a Taylor undercard?? The same one where Merchant asked my man Taylor what he thought about Pavlik gettin' the big bad Miranda out of there, and would he fight Pavlik as a result? What was Taylor's answer again? I can't remember.:hey:D

The only reason Taylor/Mora did not happen is because Mora pulled out. Jermain WANTED to fight Mora. Kelly threatened to leave Top Rank over the Mora fight. And the WBC threatened to strip Jermain if he did not fight Kelly. Taylor was forced to fight Pavlik because KP was the mandatory. Don't try to make Taylor into some kind of hero for taking that fight. That is revisionist history my freind.

And by the why, who did Kelly fight immediately after he won the title? He did the same thing JT did. He rematched the guy he won the title from. It was Jermain that wanted the catchweight, not KP.

Taylor immediately signed for the fight like they were going to sign to fight Abraham after the Miranda fight. Taylor and his team were there to bring the best fights out there without adding more complications. As far as turning down Pavlik, they could have done it. Dropping the WBC title to avoid it isn't as difficult as you may think, Taylor kept his word because it was the best fight to take at the time and a fight people wanted. Pavlik is in a slightly similar situation here with Abraham and they're ignoring him with not enough good signs that it will happen.

If you want to build a good middleweight title reign you have to fight the best out there, at least Abraham offers the IBF title, his 0 and a fighting style that guarantees fireworks in this one. If they don't take it now what else will they take if Abraham moves up?, Pavlik will be left with literally nothing unless Forrest moves up or Williams moves up. Even the Williams fight seems to go out the window after Arum openly stated he's NOT going to work with Goossen anymore after they demanded more money in this first negotiations regarding a Williams fight.

He could have ignored that fight by dropping the WBC title like he dropped other titles to make the rematch with Hopkins.

The Jermain rematch happened because they had a rematch guaranteed in the contract so please don't try and make Kelly look like a hero either.

As per my man Taylor's answer to Merchant, the Pavlik fight HAD to have represented the most MONEY.

Scar: he fought X2 154's but look at the plans he had..:rofl:lol::rofl:lol::rofl

    That's good **** Scar, you're a funny guy. LOL.:yep

So it's Arum's fault that Kelly's wife just had a baby, and KP wanted some time off? Or, are you saying it's Arum's fault that KP chased hard after a Calzaghe fight that Joe ducked out of. Oh wait, I know why you're blaming Arum! It must be Bob's fault that KP and Team Pavlik lied to him about Kelly's injury and illness going into the Hopkins fight.

Is it Arum's fault that Sauerland's idea of negotiating is to issue a series of press releases while insisting that The Champ take the small money when behind closed doors?

Don't be so damn myopic. Try looking at the big picture.
