If a Prime Tyson fought Foreman in Zaire instead of Ali

Tyson's defense was very good at his best. He was rarely even hit cleanly in his prime years from Berbick through Spinks and Foreman had the most telegraphed punches in the history of HW boxing.

With Tyson's head movement I see him being able to slip Foreman's wide shots and the speed difference would be VERY evident.

I remember after watching the fight I was at the gym trying out some of those Foreman arm punch combos to the body on the heavybag, and the trainer said "If you're gonna hit it, hit it right..." I said "Tell that to big George".

  5. Foreman would have KO'D him, BIG George, was tougher where it counted most-- Mentally....
George was 6-4, Mike only 5-11 if that, hard to get leverage on your punches on someone almost a half foot taller than you..

I like Tyson no matter what Cus D'Amatto might have said.
First of all Tyson is not Fraizer. He is bigger, stronger, faster and has better defense. Tyson's defense is the key. Foreman could hit but he also telagraphed his punches and kept his hands low. Tyson would find his way inside. If Ali could ko Foreman than Tyson would ko Foreman.

I look at Foreman as a great puncher but watching him fight he always looked crude. Ali said it right - that he telegraphs his punches. And I wouldnt consider George an intelligent fighter like a young Tyson.

Tyson at his peak was way way better than Frazier IMO. Tysons speed in the first 3 rounds would be for me too much for big George...So my pick is Tyson KO in any of the first 3 rounds - very possibly in the first. If Ali can hurt him (yeah yeah I know he was gassed out) then Tyson could really hurt him. His early onslaught for me would see Foreman look like many other of Tysons opponents. Larry Holmes for me was a much better fighter than Foreman...and would in his peak been a much tougher rival IMO. I dont think Foreman had a granite chin like Tyson had so although I'd not bet my house on Tyson to KO Foreman (George was too powerful to write off) I'd definately lean towards a short fight and Tyson as victor. Old Tyson - against a young Foremans a different matter but peak for peak I'll go with Tyson on this.

Mike's got far too much speed and precision to let Foreman land enough to stop him, and Foreman's lack of defense would cost him dearly. Iron Mike by early to mid-round KO.

Tyson by KO, Tyson at 220 lbs is very big and strong himself he just happens to be short which would work to his advantage once he got inside. Foreman would try to overpower Tyson catching alot of heavy **** in the process, Tyson's speed & defense would enable him to hit Foreman much more frequently than Foreman would hit him, Foreman has more Power but Tyson was the better puncher IMO. For Foreman to win he'd have to fight a smart technical fight which he wouldn't be able to do aganist someone faster, more skilled and with better defense, Tyson on the other hand would be able to avoid many of Foreman's shots while landing some brutal **** himself.

Foreman would knock Tyson out. Tyson would duck & try to get under shots. Foreman threw punches up from the hip, & his best punch was the uppercut. Tyson would duck straight into foreman's power just like Frazier did.

Frazier could take a good shot and the only guys he ever lost to were Foreman and Ali, so i don't see why we think Tyson had a better chin.

Don't forget that Frazier had a hell of a lot more heart and stamina than Tyson too. Tyson is tailor-made for George Foreman.

Frazier was tailor-made for Foreman, Tyson has has good speed, technical and defensive skills to to go along with his power the same cannot be said for Frazier.
