With the number of heavy head shots he had already taken, I have no problem with him stopping the fight himself. He was a warrior for getting off the canvas and fighting after getting dropped hard in round one. He even came back and dropped his opponent again. As fan of boxing, he did his job and gave me a great fight. I'm not a huge Ortiz fan, IMO he has some work to do, but I am amused by the number of board members who question this guy's heart because he values the use of his facilities.
HBO portrayed Ortiz like they did Miranda, as a kid who's tougher because his parents ran out on him. I guess that's supposed to be good fight hype or something. They even tried to make Pavlik look like he had it rough. That kid's as middle class as it gets and he still spanked Miranda who grew up in the streets eating rats. Anybody will do what they need to for the sake of survival and that's what Victor did in the ring. That's what he learned growing up, take care of numero uno first because you can't depend on anybody, so he quit. Hard to say if he'll realize a boxer has to give it all up for a bunch of fickle fans, but he already knows Oscar doesn't have his best interests at heart.
this is why i question the guys heart.....he was up on the cards, and had dropped his opponent 3 times......and then quits after hurt i nthe 6th when he wasnt "out of it"......ortiz imo has BIG heart problems....
Well yeah, whenever I tell people about Pac's father eating his dog their face drops and they look like they're gonna start crying or something. It works.
