Bute in all regards is an embarrassment to the sport.

I seems that Bute is overhyped on this board. I rate him behind Kessler and Froch.

And Linares, two weight class champions that haven't even beat a good contender.

No one puts Bute at number one spot yet, even me, and I'm a fan of his. I put him at number 2. Some people puts him number 3. Where do you see the hype? Every single ranking puts him number 2 or 3. Wouldn't it be possible that he just deserves his spot?

Nothing wrong being rank behind Kessler and Froch (although i disagree about Froch).

I dont think Bute is overhyped or overated.
I've not seen many people saying he is the number one.

Oh wait, and Froch had way better opposition right?
I would like to see what ANdrade would do to Taylor...

Hell, lets put Andrade against Froch. I doubt Froch would look that good.

Current titleholders with clearly weaker resumes than Lucian Bute:

    Nicolai Valuev
    Victor Ramirez
    Guillermo Jones
    Gabriel Campillo
    Jean Pascal
    Zsolt Erdei
    Karoly Balzsay
    Andre Berto
    Andreas Kotelnik
    Edwin Valero
    Paulus Moses
    Jorge Linares
    Roman Martinez
    Takahiro Aoh
    Cristobal Cruz
    Toshiaki Nishioka
    Joseph Agbeko
    Carita Lopez
    Nobuo Nashiro
    Denkaosan Kaovichit
    Omar Narvaez
    Brahim Asloum
    Raul Garcia
    Donnie Nietes
    Nkosanthi Joyi

There are plenty of others where you can make an argument, simply because they've fought one better fighter, but don't have the same depth of resume (including Carl Froch, Felix Sturm, Arthur Abraham, etc.). Bute is FAR from being the best example of this.

    Sure.

Kotelnik's best wins are over Gavin Rees and Marcos Maidana. He also has losses to M'Baye and Witter. If he beats Khan, it helps, and I rate Kotelnik highly as a boxer (I think he's much better than he used to be, and he deserved the win over M'Baye in the rematch), but Maidana and Rees are a step down from Andrade and Bute.
