Less than 24 hours before Dan Rafael puts another prospect on a stretcher!

Rafael indicated in his scorecard today that Daniel Jacobs is probably in the driver seat for 2009 Prospect of the Year. He'll be stepping the competition up before the end of this year, so we'll get to see if the curse continues.

I don't think you can count Taylor, Cotto, or Berto as misses, either. Amir Khan could very well come back to be very good, too.

It's hard to predict this sort of thing, so I tend to give a little leeway to ol' Rafael here. But I'm with Brickhaus on his scoring, good God!

 

Dan Rafael makes this list. Dan Rafael and Teddy Atlas both works on ESPN so i think it' Teddies influence.

 

Daniel Jacobs is much better than Ortiz based on his movement alone, but at the same time, the question is whether or not he can box...

 

Rafael does print, Atlas does live TV. I doubt they ever see each other, and he's never indicated that he's buddies with Atlas.

 

Berto holds the WBC belt, dumbass. He is not a prospect.

 

Considering his talent and his accomplishments within the year, unless something crazy happens, Jacobs is a no-brainer for prospect of the year, and I suspect he'll be everyone's prospect of the year other than a few foreign journalists and some people who name someone else just to be contrarian. None of the other candidates (Fury, Korobov, DeMarco, Alvarez, Lara) stack up to both his resume within the year and talent level.

 

Eh.. interesting enough...everyone went on to be stars 1st loss or not..

Props to jacobs if he gets the recognition .. should be great when he gets the bigger fights

 

Pirog has a really good chance to beat him. In fact I may even favour him here.
