    True.

I don't think it should be though.

Even though Pac beats the defenseless Cotto at 147.

A fight contracted at 145lbs is a welterweight bout where the fighters happen to agree amongst themselves to weigh in at that weight.

DLH v Hopkins is your example, where the contracted weight was 158 and all the middleweight belts were on the line.

You think Cotto v Judah should have been a non-title fight because neither of them weighed in at 147lbs?

So then technically couldn't it just be fought at 147 with a handshake agreement not to weigh in above a certain amount (for instance 144 or 145)?

What's the big fuss is there is no difference at all? Cotto can hydrate at any weight he wants. There is no cap as to what weight he will come up at fight night. You guys are overanalyzing this weight issue. It's as if as if Cotto will be weight drained if he weighed in at l45. Re WW relevancy? Aren't you aware that welterweight limit is from 141-147?

It could be fought with a handshake agreement as to how they divvy up the money and all the arrangements.

How about you suggest that to Mr Arum, see what his reaction is

Not like Arum has never made a mistake or anything...or twelve....or fifty....or four hundred.

And what exactly would Arum care? I'm sure if Cotto gave Arum his word, Arum would take it because Miguel has been a pretty upfront honest happy go lucky sort of soldier for TR. Lord knows in ALL likelyhood Manny can't touch 147 WITHOUT rehyrdating so what's the MAJOR risk?

And we're all aware btw that WITH or without a catchweight, Cotto will STILL likely rehydrate up to 155+ right?

Whats the fuss? Because its clear they are trying to attempt to drain him.

If it wasn't a big deal why are they having it at 145 and not 147?

I am aware that WW is 141-147 but WW is not 141-145 where Cotto is capped to.

Cotto is going to hit his normal fight night weight 145 or 147.

1Ib is alot? What are you talking about? Cotto was 146 versus Clottey and he looked strong, so 1lb is going to make no difference whatsoever.

Castillo looked completely fine weighing in against Corrales in their first fight at 135.

Signed to fight him again at 135 and weighed 138. He was given an hour to lose it and he couldn't even manage to lose 1lb.

    I thought 1lb is nothing?

I think it's safe to say that 1lb is more of a big deal when you've already tried to make weight and are 3lbs over than when arranging a fight for several months time at a weight 1lb less than you confortably weighed in for your last fight.
