01 - Smokin' Joe Frazier. The music - Two tunes, both straight out of the top drawer, both belong The best bit - 4:40 Ali plays to the crowd. Joe does not. Nods and beckons Ali forwards to ring centre, double nods, tries to walk past the referee. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_Qw_-b767o 02 - Sonny Liston, A Man The Music - Perfect The Best Bit - 3.30-3.50 The devastation Liston felt at the non-reaction of the public to his lifting the title depicted in photographs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jZ6e4H8f7g 03 - Ken Buchanan The Music - Please and thank you. The Best Bit - 1.10. Buchanan gets dragged into close quarters by Watt and dominates anyway, landing two varied combinations in quick succession, dipping into hiding before and after each one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfVKFjbZLGE 04 - Roberto Duran Highlight The Music - One part Duran, two parts Leoanrd... The Best Bit - 8.50-9.00 It's not a question of "when is he going to stop?" it's "who's going to stop him?" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohS570Pz6nc 05 - Ricardo Lopez Highlight Tribute The Music - So right and so wrong. The Best Bit - 4:08 The execution of Preecha, and also the most perfectly correct combination ever captured on film. The also perfect left hook that misses because Preecha has been seperated form his sense is the best punch never landed http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQfc58XeQXQ 06 - The Suble Skills of Joe Louis The Music - In them days you were lucky to have music The Best Bit - 2.55 "Joe cheks, feints, and hooks to the body". One of the most horrible punches i've ever seen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R78hdxpRfws 07 - Willie Pep HL The Music - Gay. Wrong The Best Bit - 0.00-8.11 Willie Pep highlights http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2a_wt60Wn9M 08 - Juan Manuel Marquez Tribute The Music - ...you'll have your own opinion, but I think it's proper! The Best Bit - 0.00-0.59 "Jesus. Typical. After all that waiting. I'll hang on to see if he can make it out of the second...third...fourth...holy ****." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vo8EfP5STnk 09 - Bernard Hopkins Highlight/Tribute Video The Music - Perfect! The Best Bit - 1.00-1.22 Hopkins is putting away a hurt opponent, but watch the control of range and the evasive manueveres as Hopkins - yet to peak - remains aware even with the fight all but won. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Akkc7KSGBto 10 - Rocky Marciano Underated Defence Highlight The Music - Whilst the video is excellent, the musical selection suggests to me this author probably doesn't have much grasp of heavyweight box-punchers and probably grossly underestimates Sonny Liston. At a guess. TheBest Bit - 3.30 Countering The Moongoose, no less, in slow motion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9b0yHvw-vW0 So let's see one or two (or ten) of yours. No duplicates please!
[yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZrupRgFNAY&feature=channel_page[/yt] Best edited boxing video I've seen on the tube.
I would kill for a good Jake LaMotta highlight with half decent music. They have Johnny Cash in the background! What's up with that?
While they're called highlights for a reason, I gotta admit to gaining a new sense of respect for the skills of Ken Buchanan.
[YT]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjTHLPmfBCQ[/YT] Pernell Whitaker. On it's own I don't care much for the song but I think it works very well in this video.
I don't know what I was thinking with the music. I used a classical version of the song and it fit better in my opinion. What are your thoughts? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvcwlV_1XUo This isn't really a highlight since it goes over 15 minutes... but it's something. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6vhwn_jake-lamotta_sport
As always, your eye for the right footage is unparalleled but that music doesn't work for me personally. Pep was a load of fun to watch. Know what i mean?
