It's a tough one to call, for me at least. Dempsey's hook was probably the fastest among these three. Frazier's hook was brutal. And despite it being his only real knockout punch, he executes it well. It can be used for offense or a counterpunch. Tua is the same way, but I think his hook was a little faster than Frazier's and had more knockout power.
Frazier's was the most effective of the three. He threw with such skill and would throw just at the right time. He would wear down opponents with it.
Agreed. He could launch that punch from any postion. When fighting Joe Frazier, you're gonna get hit with that left hook. There's no escaping it, really.
No disrespect to Dempsey and Tua though. They had good left hooks but I think Frazier's was on a different level.
Tough to call between Frazier and Dempsey. Im inclined to say Frazier but wouldn't argue against someone saying Dempsey. I would put Tyson up there with them as far as left hooks go. I was surprised not to see him on that list!
Hard to say. Tua's was the hardest, Dempsey's had the best range and maybe the best speed, Frazier's hook could be thrown all night. I would lean toward Dempsey here.
I tend to favor Dempsey, somebody who literally wrote the book on how to properly execute it. However, I have no quarrel with anybody citing Smoke or Tua instead.
Frazier the combination of speed/power/accuracy/timing/technique/variety just set him apart, Tua's hook was beastly though but not as effective
I don't think that you could name Jack Dempsey or Joe Frazier as having the better left hook of the two because their hooks were so different. Joe Frazier was the uzi and Jack Dempsey was the elephant gun.
Joe Frazier's in my opinion. Could use it in every way. I don't think Frazier's left hook is only the best out of these three fighters, I think his is the best left hook of all time, in any weight class.
Sound analysis. I don't think you can really compare them. Like you state, each has its pros and its cons. Dempsey and Tua's hook would be unfavorable against a guy like Ali while Frazier's excels there, whereas against a Foreman, Dempsey and Tua's hook would be better than Frazier's.
