I been reading all the crying about Catchweights in this Forum. I dont see anything wrong with it if both parties agree. People here complaining like it is something new cause last time I checked this Catchweight has been happening for decades.

For example, Cotto and Pac at 145.... Cotto weighed 146 in Clottey fight. I bet if he took a **** before the weigh in he would've weighed 145.

Well, when your the Pound4Pound... you will have haters no matter what... Thats how you measure the Person's success... "The more haters you produce, the more successful you are". They cant accept that an Asian Midget is wiping out all their heroes... Peace....

Nothing. Some fans are just fans of a particular fighter or a couple of fighters and come up with "excues" just in case their fighter looses. Some actually are worried about draining a fighter and should PAC win not getting full credit. But at the end of the day Catch weights are good for the sport...its good to have a tool to even out a match when fighters are from different weight classes. Cotto won't have ANY PROBLMES making or ad******g training camp to meet 145. He had no problems making 146 against Josh who was BIGGER and Stronger than Cotto and Cotto on fight night will be much bigger and stronger than PAC.

Whoever wins it will be based on fighting the better fight...nothing more nothing less. I feel PAC is just a better fighter overall and feel he'll beat Cotto but this is boxing....Cotto definitley has a great chance at beating PAC as well. Play your odds and hope your prediction is the right one. That's all you can do in a fight like this one. No one will be at a disadvantage except for PAC who is smaller. But he's still making the fight happen so you gotta give him props and people need to stop trying to diminish a win that hasn't even happened nor is guranteed for PAC.

In most cases i hate them. There is enough weight divisions, with tint temporary sub divisions as well.

Also it gives people the impresion that one fighter is trying to get an unfair advantage over another. I think catch weights ae uneccersary, but they can help negotiations 'sometimes'. As long as the best fights get made nobody cares...

There is a difference...its called Cotto is a WW and PAC is a Jr WW...Hence "meeting at a Catch weight". Simple logic that some people have a hard time comprehending. It's not physics!

No more than an advantage due to size and strength. Look....its a fight against a BIG guy vs a Small guy. That is an advantage for the larger fighter. All a catch weight does is makes it a more even playing field for the smaller fighter. What the problem is??

Unfair advantage for Pac? I think Pac is trying to get a FAIR advantage.

Its like Playing 9 Ball Billiards. I used to hustle in my college days and I was really good (I can clear out the table without sitting down). So when someone who I think is not at my league I give him an advantage that the winning ball for him will 7 or 8 ball so he can bet with me.

So I was losing an advantage to to add to his to even out the match. Cotto has been fighting at WW and is very comfortable at that weight. Pac is a 140 fighter who started at 106. Pac can only gain so much after the weigh in and Cotto will have the advantage at fight night. Peace.

IF you can't fit into one of the SEVENTEEN existing weight categories, find a different sport.

IF Pac wants to fight at 145, fine. Let him.

But that's in the welterwt category.

What's the problem with him coming in at 145 and Cotto coming in at 147 ?

Will those two extra pounds turn Cotto into Superman ?

Pac gets great credit for the Oscar win at 147. If that had been at a catchweight, the victory would have been diluted and denigrated.

If Pac wins at a catchweight, do you want to hear the haters put out the 'weight-drained' excuse ?

And do you want Pac to earn a belt for this fight ?

For Pac, it would be like climbing Mount Everest and turning back a hundred feet from the top.

If he can win at 145, he can probably win at 147.

We already have about twice as many weight categories as we need.

If the fighters think that it's worth negotiating and banging heads over for weeks, then I think it's worth discussing in a forum where people come to talk about everything related to boxing. If a few pounds didn't make a difference then catchweights wouldn't exist.

BIG differnece. Rick and Cotto felt they HAD to jump up to a higher weight class b/c of their "Struggles" making weight at 140. PAC doesn't struggle to make weight at 140 or 135 for that matter. Cotto wants to fight him and PAC wants to fight Cotto so they are doing it at a catch weight which is not ridicoulous. These are men who are at different weights, who are comfortable at their respective weights.

I don't think that anyone feels that the catchweight is ridiculous. Just that if you don't want to fight a 147 lb miguel cotto you don't deserve a 147 pound title.

What's wrong is that for two about two decent cheeseburgers, Roach is denying Manny the chance at virtually unprecedented history. It's worth the damned risk.

You missed the part where 145 weight limit was Cotto's suggestion, huh?
