No. They are two of the best but there's weight divisions for a reason.

I disagree. A mega fight has the ability to attract not only boxing fans, but also the casual sport fans and even those that are not huge sport fans.

When I think of Mega fights, i think in the lines of lewis vs tyson-where you had the build up, the coverage, and the anticipation. It not only hooked the boxing community, but the casual sport fans, and those that weren't in too sports. This is a big fight, but as far as it being a mega fight-it won't sniff it.

i view this fight similar to pac-oscar. most called it then a circus fight. a view it as an exhibition fight.

I agree. But I hope I'm wrong. I'd like to at least see a close one.

Im pretty shocked that yes has more votes then no..For several reasons.

    1. Pac Fans dont want the fight to happen because they are scared that it will do better numbers then JMM-Pac did

    2. Latino fans dont want to see the fight because they know JMM has a slim shot of winning

    3. floyd has more haters then any fighter active and no fight that he takes will be good enough for them.

As far as the weight...Floyd started at 130 JMM 122. When floyd moved up to fight Oscar at 154 no one was saying this fight shouldnt happen Floyd is too small, 24 pounds. But now that JMM is moving up to fight Floyd the weight is too much and Floyd is a much bigger fighter, and its not fair 25 pounds...HMM that isnt a double standard at all:roll:

No, weight being too big of a factor in favour of one fighter (PBF). Skillwise I would def say YES.

It's not really a fair comparison as Floyd has been up at 147 for quite some time now. The question I ask to Floyd apologists is thus, what division does he belong in if he's too small for 147 but too big for 140?

    No.

There is something underwhelming about this match-up.

I'm a fan of both fighters, but its not a contest that inspires the same kind of awe or excitement as say FMJ-Pac, or JMM-Pac III.

I dunno, its not a 'mega-fight' thats for sure. You need De La Hoya for one of those :deal

    More excuses...They just never stop...

We have already heard all the excuses laid out for ANY fighter that Floyd fights or could fight. Check out the thread about it...

Shane would be too old should floyd fight him

Cotto would be shot and not the same because he was knockedout by Margo

Margo wouldnt be the same because he lost to Shane

    Williams would be weight drained

    Pac would be too small

    JMM would be too small.

    Been there seen that.

Exactly, this catchweight bull**** needs to stop. We already have too many divisions as it is. The irony here is that I really don't think it's necessary for Pac or Floyd to **** around with the weight like this. Both can fight, end of story. The weight is irrelevant.
