Why don't you ask Arum, after all he tried to keep him away from Margo and has frozen him out of the 147 lb division. Better yet ask Cotto why he's hiding behind Arum.

 

I'm not impressed with PW at this point, but it isnt entirely his fault. He could get fights if he left Goosen though.

 

Arum wouldn't put Cotto within a 100 miles of Williams.:deal He knows that Williams will work Cotto and the rest of his fighters that's why he froze Williams out of the divison. Williams is the defintion of P4P fighting from 147-160. He's a stylistic nightmare for anyone 154 and down and would give Pavlik and Abraham fits at 160. Williams is the real deal and only a hater or someone who doesn't know boxing would think otherwise.

 

Just like someone told me when I bashed Margo for fighting at 147. If you can make the weight then you can fight in the division.:deal

He doesn't focus on lower weight classes, actually its quite the opposite his been moving up in weight

He is about 6'2 there isn't that many fighers with his height, if any at 47 or 54.

He fought Margarito-when nobody else was wiling to fight him.

His called out plenty of fighters from Mosley to Floydd

To be fair Williams is well worth the hype. Problem is his promoter, ever the genius that he is, pissed off Bob Arum and now finds himself on the outside of all the big fights he needs.

Williams has alot of potential. His resume may not be so strong right now. But like the others said it's not all his fault. Right now he's getting the hype because of what people think he would do.

His natural abilities and talent seem like they will take him far. But he needs to get himself in some big fights. Any top guy from 47-54 I can see him giving fits to. I think Pav and Abraham will be simply too much at this time. Mainly cause I don't think he has a middleweight frame yet.

 

I really do not get why he bitches about being avoided when he had only had 1 good win against prime opposition in Antonio Margarito who wasn't a huge name yet. The reality is that he fought mostly weak opposition going into his fight against Margarito and as far as I am aware none of those fights we're shown on a HBO or Showtime and he wasn't an amateur star so why would he be a huge name capable of getting the big fish in the ring. It hardly helped that he then promptly lost his belt in his first defence. OK he reclaimed it but he should have gone and got a few decent defenses on HBO to boost his brand power so he can get those big fights, he could have done an Andre Berto by fighting name fighters like Luis Collazo, Zab Judah etc. instead he bitched that he couldn't get a fight with big names and vacated. Last time I checked you have to serve your apprenticeship in boxing and make yourself a name before you get big fights. He now needs to make himself king at Light. Middle and then he will get big fights.
