Jorge Linares calling out Humberto Soto for a unification fight

finally. linares is panning something that could push his career forward. his best opponent to date is an old oscar larios and that is saying a lot

 

HELL of a fight.

 

Too bad Linares didn't say this without also mentioning that he'll be fighting a presumed bum in Japan first, sometime around October. Linares/Soto is exciting, but having to wait until 3090 for it happen, cooled my excitement instantly.

 

Linares has been dropping names like Chris John for over a year. In boxing you don't always get to fight the guys you call out

A few thoughts:

Why does Linares need a match in Japan first?? Soto would fight him ASAP. Sounds to me like Linares isn't really serious about facing Soto. He isn't obligated to fight some nobody in Japan as far as I know. I wanna see this fight in no later than 3 months....not 6+ months.

It never ceases to amaze me how people don't really give Soto any credit. The guy's efforts are tireless to try and get bigger fights but he just doesn't get 'em. Sure, he lost to Guzman, but Guzman outweighed him by 15+ lbs. on fight night and Guzman STILL ran from Soto all night. That fight wasn't as lopsided as many would have you believe. Soto was never hurt, and Guzman really didn't do much work with his fists in that fight.

Anyways...

While Linares has some nice skills, one of the things he does poorly is stand straight up and doesn't offer much movement on the defensive end of things. I also think his power isn't what his KO record indicates, and his right hand is easy to telegraph at times. I don't see how Soto loses this fight. Soto has never been down in his career, and Linares ain't gonna be the one to put him down. I really don't see Linares putting on any kind of boxing clinic and I don't think he can escape Soto's boxing prowess long enough to survive.

I predict a late Soto TKO.

Don't laugh... It's a fact many people were disappointed in Rocky for ducking Santiago...

Soto will break Linares down in the later rounds. Linares moves too much and he will get tired and start getting sloppy like he did against Larios. Too much moving and his legs wont be there at the end. Soto by late stoppage or SD win

but he's young though, he dont understand "boxing" yet.....

 

Soto will take anything that gets him paid. He ain't afraid of anyone, although I don't see how this one would end up too differently from the Guzman fight.
