A great boxer, a classy gentleman and a true sportsman. He was respected by everyone...fellow boxers, opponents, promoters, the media and fans.

It is TOTALLY ****ed up, man........... BUT! I will not shed a tear for a guy who willingly pops himself to secure his demise......... This is a "Pro" choice deal........ People commit suicide for deep reasons from within..... What was Arguello's problem? I don't know exactly, but I'll guess money, property & women played a role there......... Them are the big three besides health issues........... R.I.P.

You must be a TMZ fan. Give it a rest and let's see what really happened. The truth will come out. Maybe it was political. We have to wait and see.

The hell is TMZ? Screw all that....... I just want the truth behind the death of Arguello..... Did he or did he NOT do himself?? If A.A. really pulled the trigger on himself, than he really was troubled and wanted out..... How much clearer can you get it??? I will not lose any sleep over this scenario....... Was it suicide or a Mafia hit??? I will bum if he got hit......

There is just something about Nicaragua and their politics that makes this a little hard to believe!

    RIP
I also read that alfredo escalera is very affected by this whole incident.
Arguello was on PR last weekend and they had some drinks and watched the juanma fight at a bar with a group of champs and ex-champs like: Iván Calderón,José “Carita” López,Juan Laporte, Víctor “Luvi” Callejas among others.

That is those mother****ers that follow entertainers and make-up stories or add. I had a close family friend that died the same way, but no one believed that a man would commit suicide by shooting himself in the chest. I don't want to go into detail as far as where to shoot, but in the chest? It was strongly rumoured that the police did him in. He had no reason to commit suicide and as another poster just mentioned, the politics could have did him in. It can't be clear until all facts are investigated.

One of the GREATEST ever!! I for one don't understand a suicide. He was elected as mayor, so it's not like his life went to **** after boxing. He always seemed at a Zen like peace with himself and others, so suicide doesn't jive. But, maybe there was something else. Anyway, he lived better lives than most, and gave to so many during his.
    R.I.P. Mr arguello

Who gives a **** how he died, the man is dead.

He gave his all to the sport, one of the greatest, and an absolute warrior in the ring.

    We'll miss you dearly.

Pryor/Arguello I was an epic battle for the ages. How Pryor could take those shots and stay on his feet is beyond me. An all time great battle.

However, I really think it is a crying damn shame that so many of the younger fans know Alexis ONLY from those fights. I hope that any of you who fall into that category will take some time to expand your knowledge of the man. Watch the two Escalera fights, and you'll see a champion among champions at his peak.
