I've started running 3km every evening. I'm starting to improve my time each night but I had a friend tell me that it's better to run during the day when it's hot out. I argued that it didn't matter what time I ran, so long that I did the road work.

My friend is not a boxer but I've started thinking about what he said. Would running in the morning afternoon be better than in the evening?

There really isn't really a best time to run. I mainly run in the mornings but sometimes in the evenings if my schedule won't allow me to run earlier. As a beginer I wouldn't run in the afternoon at the moment, it is simply too hot and humid and your body will be expending too much energy just trying to stay cool and you won't be able to run as far or as fast.

Why is it better when it's hot out? You don't want to dehydrate yourself. But it is more enjoyable so I run in the day or after training.

it doesnt matter what time you run as long as you do the road work, but some people say the air is cleaner in the morning before all the cars are on the road because of exhaust fumes. I always wait until it gets dark and run at night or run after training.
I try to avoid running in the hottest part of the day if i can....

The best time to run is when you feel motivated to run...

It matters when you run. Run after you have completed your technical workout (boxing) and/or your strength workout. These could be combined. You want your body fresh and ready to retain the technical skills you will be working on during your boxing training and not exhausted by a 3km run. Do your run afterward for best benefits. Once in a while, for mental and physical toughness, you can do your boxing after a run. But very rarely and only to test yourself.

if you cant do technical training after a 3 km run your not fighting fit.

i think you should mix up when you run because i find if i run after i have sparred 8 rounds i cant run as quick. I would never run before serious sparring though.

i sometimes run before i do a technical session and it doesnt effect my technique because my fitness is pretty good. Its all about pushing the body so you are always improving..

When it was sunny, I use to wear a baseball cap to do my road work.

There isn't a "Best" time to run. It's a personal preference really.
