Lots of people say it. I read that nonsense pretty often.

I generally don't do much ratings of fighters or have any definitive list. Hagler was dominant in one weight class, I disagreed with two of his losses (had him beating Watts and drawing with Leonard) and also one of his draws. I didn't see the others, but assuming the Seales draw was fair and the Monroe loss was (it was said to be a convincing win for Monroe), I've got his record at 64-1-2. Extremely impressive. Arguello had success in several weight classes, world titles in 3, and defeated a top rated contender in a fourth. I think his resume is more impressive than Hagler's. In terms of ability, both are great, although with different styles.

While Hagler was one of the best ever, he's no Sugar ray Robinson, Henry Armstrong, Willie Pep, Roberto Duran, or Joe Louis. 5 Is waaaaaaaaaaay too high for Hagler.

That's not what the fans said!

Besides, Marvin and Roy are two of the best I ever seen and to confirm it, both of them receive unanimous praise in their own decade for most p4p awards. This came from the the panel of EXPERTS from KO magazine.

Hagler win the award FOUR consecutive times! One time he win all 150 votes.

Heehoo, that means every single expert polled pick him for his level of excellence that will never be equalled. The first time they polled, you got only one holdout-Eddie Mustafa Muhammad - an outlier

This just confirms what I been saying about the two of them :yep

And you can't really dissagree either heehoo because Like I said this came from the fans themselves and Hagler was ranked HISTORICALLY higher than Pep and Louis and Armstrong. :yep

    But just below Duran

    It's the truth! :yep

I didnt say it, the fans said it! :yep

Fans from all over the country!

And they all agree that Hagler kicks ass :yep

So who are we to say Hagler dont deserve it?

    He deserves it! :yep

Wrong answer.....in every one of Hagler's fights he was a plodder.....just watch him. Suffering through his fights is tough. He was soooooooo over rated. Thank goodness for SRL to hand him his ass and expose him.:good

Wrong answer...The plodder here is srl who plod his way to two straight losses - one sided losses at that. Like the man said, you want to fight and get your butt kicked-no excuses!

I'm not knocking ray but forcing the fight was never his cup of tea, espcecially against young fast fighters like Norris & Camacho, or even Hearns.

Hagler's losses were much less convincing than ray's who, hit the deck twice, lost every round and just looked plain foolish.

    P4P standings:

    Hagler #4
    Arguello # 16
    Ray Leonard # 51

i just don't see how you can agree with that rating of SRL, its just wrong!

The man fought Duran, Hearns, Hagler and Benitez..... and beat them all employing a variety of skills and styles! (Hagler after a long lay off)

It is hard to find a weakness in SRL.....

Sad for you because others dont share your warped point of view. I don't remember it because it never happened. all i remember is that the aged champion getting robbed. The ass kicking I remember was the one Norris laid on Leonard...remember? You want to fight and get your ass kicked, no excuses. Leonard said it himself

No, it's right! What else leonard done beside what you mentioned? He could have at least tried for so much more. He could have faced Hagler in 1983. Never happened. Becuase he chose not to.

Aaron Pryor-never happened. Again, because he chose not to.

Even upon his comeback we had to settle for Don lalonde instead of Micheal Nunn. What a waste. His comeback would have ended there I'm sure. If Ray were as high as you rank him then he would gladly accepted a fight with Mike. After all, he was a middleweight now and hadnt he beat Hagler? So what was he afraid of?

I also would have liked to see him accept the challenge of up and coming Julian Jackson, the former jr Middleweight champion, Kalambay, and McCallum.

You leonard fans give him way too much credit and ask for for far too liitle.

Hagler and Arguello were the ones whose careers were really packed with accomplishments and had about twice as many fights so of course they have to get more credit.

BTW, the hagler-leonard fight was bogus
