I used to be a big hater of 168 because no one fought anyone.... but finally i can give 168 props if everyone steps up to the plate.... if this truly happens.... i think jermain taylor will quit before the whole thing finishes up edit: Sorry Ladies & Gentleman I left Out 1 Key Fact.... This sort of tournament is a career maker and breaker. Some might as well retire after it and there's potential for a P4Per to come from this. It would be incredible.
It won't happen. A: You've got the issue of the belt agencies not sanctioning these fights, because they're ****ing ******ed. B: Kessler is tied up with Palle and cannot escape the contract. C: No way Ward or Dirrell puts themselves in these match ups against Abraham/Kessler.
They should do an elimination tournament. This format is ****. Say Taylor loses to Abraham and Ward then why the **** would anyone be interested in Taylor-Kessler? Taylor would have had 3 straight losses to Froch, Abraham and Ward.
Other Notes - Kessler Has Moved Passed His Legal Battles With Palle. Promoters Involved Will Be - Goosen, Shaw, Dibella, Sauerland, Hennesy - Abraham Woudl Vacate & Go to 168 - Kelly Pavlik Would Be Left With No One To Fight FOR A LONG TIME... Cept The Winner Of Bute - Andrade Or Paul Williams - This Would Be A Global Event... Kudos To The Promoters (IF IT FALLS THROUGH) For Working Along Side Of Each Other Instead Of Pitted Against Each Other
Elimination tournament will just leave people saying 'He wasn't the real winner, fighter A would have beaten the winner, his style just didn't match up well against fighter B, that's why he went out early'
Personally, Without Bute in there, I don't see anyone challenging Kessler if he is the fighter that went against Joe Calzaghe. If he's lost a step then I think it'll be intriguing to see what Abraham can do, very good turtle styled defense with good power and handspeed. It will also be a test for Ward and Dirrell. Guys who will get spanked the moment they're in a live fight? Froch and Taylor.
I never Cheered for 168... but i prey this happens...this alone will keep boxing interesting for 1 year str8
This won't happen, atleast according to the script that Showtime has set out there. Too many variables to clog things up. But I like what Showtime is trying to do here and if even some of these proposed bouts come off I'd be satisfied. Even if three or four of the 9 proposed fights come off then Showtime deserves credit for making excellent fights.
I agree on a & b, not c though. Andre Ward just made Edison Miranda look foolish he took the dude to school. Miranda gave Abraham fits the first time they fought, got destroyed the second fight though. I know you can't go by that. Styles makes fights and Ward showed me that he really has some excellent skills. I know that doesn't mean he will beat Abraham but I think the Miranda fight did wonders for his confidence I don't see him being scared to get it on with Abraham.
if this goes down.... showtime>hbo last half of 09 & first half of 10 unless floyd vs pacman comes off
