You are talking about the Benn fight.

I'm interested if he was already traumatized going in to the fight.

Cuz he sure as hell wasn't taking punches like he normally did and this was from the beggining. He was grimasing in clinches and looked shook up at evry punch.

People exaggerate about that. The ref did give Nigel a couple extra seconds to long to recover but Benn was OK when he got up on his feet and would have done the same with out the extra few seconds.

It don't matter weather you feel for him or not.

No man should deserve that. That ain't living what he is doing for the past 14 years. It's a torture.

    Death would have been easier.

the first jackson fight he was stung quite a few times. jackson was a huge hitter and in the five or so rounds he caught him with some solid shots

back to the thread i've heard that manny had said g-man had headaches after the jackson rematch and they were contemplating pulling out of the benn fight. as it stands, the drastic weight loss he was doing took it's toll. i don't think it was that much weight at a time he was dehydrating, just more the frequency that he did it; he should have moved to super middle long before. From some reports, his body was well damaged going to england and benn is not the kind of guy you take on at less than 100% It's tragic and frightening in the end

    I also read this.

Apparently that's why he didn't wanna train him.

Understood, but he would have been counted out and I believe that is the point. Now, if he had been counted out, then we would not have seen all of RJJ good fights. Point, he would have done the damage and then he would have been affected for life.

There was nothing wrong with the Refs count he just prevented Gman from jumping over Benn straight away and gave Benn a few seconds to recover.

But Benn was OK and would have just held his way thru the 1st round. Gman was smothering his work which is the main reason he could not get Nifel out of there in the 1st.

I am with you on that. I dont know why Americans think that grazing headbutt was so significantnt. Benn was landing bombs in that fight and that is what exacerbated Gman underlying problems. Benn is one the hardest P4P punchers in the sport and that was a bad combination with Gman toughness.

You can't know this for sure.

There is a good chance he would have got knocked out.

I agree with you it was a clash of heads but it was only grazing and not significant to Gman's injury.
