He is a terrible poster, but I get the sense he just acts like an idiot for the fun of it and isn't really that dumb.

Take it easy buddy. I think the hype about Pacman has gone into serious overdrive. Next they will be telling us he and Duran, Pernell Whittaker, Ray Leonard, Hearns, Pryor, Azumah Nelson and Chavez would be pick em's. Amazing what victories over Dangerous David Diaz, past his best ODLH and ill equipped Hatton can do. Unbelievable.

I'm not saying he's not up there Olu (I think he belongs in a similar class, if not the same) but to think the overwhelming indication is that Pac is higher and would knock Alexis out is pretty unbelievable.

Especially at 126/130, at 140 it's closer but I still think Arguello stops Pac there.

    Surely I'm not OVERRATING Arguello???!?!?!?

Exactly, weight jumping clouds a lot of peoples judgement.

That's a good point... but it is not only about jumping to another weight class, it is also about who you defeat in those weight classes...

Arguello would have defeated David Diaz at 135 and Hatton at 140. Can you imagine if when Arguello went for his fourth title, the best boxer at 140 would have been Hatton instead of Pryor?????

Can you imagine if after that Arguello had gone to fight Hoya at 147???? Do you really think that the same Arguello who fought that night against Pryor was not capable of defeating the same Hoya that Pac defeated???? I bet you believe that Arguello would have beaten the same version of Hoya that Pac beat..... right????

Asero is alright...He is a new fan who seems to be learning a lot but not much is getting through yet.

He actually knows a fair bit a bit Filo fighters...you just would never be able to get an objective opinion out of him when speaking about one..especially Pac.

i see your point. i also believe arguello would have slaughtered the version of hoya that fought pac... and also believe that arguello would have beaten hatton too... but imho it would be a 50/50 fight at 140lbs or maybe i am just being a bit biased for pac since he had made amazing feats lately.. but the prime version of arguello at SFW that beat chacon escalera limon navarette and boza edwards would have been too much to handle for pac, and to think arguello has a way better jab and timing than morales.

at 130lbs., arguello is almost indestructible

    Thanks for your reply.

My point basically was that it is misleading to say that Pac has a better resume or is ahead of Arguello as an ATG just because he has jumped more weight classes.... The quality of oponents you defeat counts a lot.

On the other hand Arguello spent more time at every weight class he was in as a champion and dominated those weight classes during the time he was a champion at the point that Arguello can be ranked very high at 126, 130 and 135, while Pac will always be behind Arguello in those weight classes.

hmm.. yeah i see it clearly now.

pac, despite being a 4 time lineal champ and 5 time world champ, comapred to arguello being a 3 time champ, alexis arguello had fought better opposition and completely dominated 1 weight class..so i can say arguello better resume and level of opposition, and pac has better accomplishment.

well, in this regard arguello can still be ranked higher than pac in atg lists.

btw, do you think pac can exceed arguellos resume by say, beating cotto for example? or do you think he should accomplish more?

Much more IMO. Arguello's resume, is very, very deep and the way he defeated some of his opponent exemplary.

With a win over Cotto and then a definite win over Marquez he would surpass Arguello by two or three places. If he does that I may even have him top 10 (post-war of course)

I currently have Arguello at 11
