Good for Hatton strange from Macklin. This will probably help the Barker fight though which is something that i have been waiting for.
Its not often on here we hear someone being called stupid for leaving Warren ...I don't necessarily disagree with you :good
Hmmmm....... I don't think Warren is that interested in Macklin to be perfectly honest, and he needs to be getting a move on rather than hanging around. Hatton will be more likely to co-operate with other promoters than Warren will, so bigger and better fights (those that we want to see) are likely to be on the horizon.
I'd tend to agree, but this year we've already seen Macklin v Elcock and Cleverly v McIntosh is upcoming, so I think Barker v Macklin would definitely have been made, most likely main eventing a Hennessy show (provided they are still on itv4 at that point). Surprisng really, but if Matthew thinks its for the best, fair play to him.
Yeah but those fights were mandatory.... unless Barker has been made mando for the British title (I aren't sure). Macklin has fought enough meaningless eight/ten rounders on undercards somewhere, nearly as many as John Duddy - time to get a move on and see what he can actually do.
A strange one alright, He and Hatton are very close so I wonder if this decision was made more with his heart than his head. He has a habit of changing trainers a lot too which is worrying as consistancy is a very important to a fighter. But I agree that Macklin didn't appear to be high on Warren's list of priorities and Hatton's affiliation with Golden Boy might open a few doors for Macklin stateside. Time will tell....
Good point, I knew Cleverly was mandatory but wasnt sure about the Elcock/Macklin fight. I think Barker is the mandatory for the British though, his most recent CW title fight doubled as a final eliminator.
well everyone else thats posted on here seems suprised. Barker is Macklins mandatory, purse bids are this week.
Waste his potential fighting clowns, then getting a lucky title shot and getting beaten up because you lacked big fight experience? (Not that Jennings would ever beat Cotto - btw)
