does he need money. Just read this story saying he's been having money trouble. Anybody think this may be what motivated his return? http://boxing.about.com/b/2009/07/04/floyd-mayweather-out-of-money.htm
listen people...enough with the floyd needs money threads....anybody with a clue knew he wasnt really retired...not with the potential money on the table when he finally had arrived as the star he wanted to be....so hes not really coming back...he took a break(for whatever reason you want to believe)...but he was never retired from boxing...so hes not coming back
Your response in no way addresses the article saying he's having money trouble. Regardless of your statement, he publically retired, and now he's back. The reason I posted this article is because if his motivation is the money and not the love of the sport, then it could impact his performance.
how would i address the article? im not affiliated with the mayweather team nor do i have access to his financial records what i will say is that...theres been about 25 of these threads in the last week or so....when they start foreclosing on his properties and repo'ing cars...then ill believe hes in trouble....floyd lives good....but hes not living like mike or evander used to....so i doubt hes in any real trouble
That's what I was afraid of. I hope not though - I hope the best FMJ returns so that we can see a mega fight against Pac or Mosley.
i just dont get it....do people really think floyd is that stupid? do people really think floyd is going to go into the gym and go through the motions just to collect 15 mil? i dunno...maybe im wrong...i think floyd has too much pride to step into the ring at anything less then his best
hmm says... he already said the following: PBF to BK: "I don't fight for titles I fight for checks." PBF on Margarito "We're not fighting to prove to the fans who the best is." /thread
Yes he will, I mean anybody would, I don't blame him for that. If he is fighting for money he will lose before he retires again.
so wait...if hes fighting for money...then wouldnt that put him in the same sort of position that he was in when his career started? fighting for money? if hes broke(i doubt it)...then hes fighting for money...which would probably make him hungry....the guy is 32...and he just took a nice vacation....so he should be in good shape to make a nice 2-2 1/2 year run its going to take a great performance by anyone to beat him...and if someone does..id say its because they put on a great performance...not because floyd didnt care or age caught up to him
At this level of competition 2 1/2 year layoff is more than a nice vacation I am actually wondering how much this is going to affect him. At the beginning it may have been a combination of competitiveness and the desire to get the big money. If Maywether is fighting for money (which I don't know for sure) he knows he will be maxed out with the current fighters, meaning he is not going to get more money.
floyd is taking home lets say 15 mil against JMM...so he wins that and takes on the pac/cotto winner and takes home around 25-30 for that...if he wins that hes probably looking at one more fight at around the 25 mil range...theres potential to take home around 75 mil in the next two years for floyd...and who knows...maybe one farewell payday....all this is contingent on winning i think floyd has too much pride to simply walk through the ropes just to get a check(despite what he says)....its not out of the realm of possibility....and maybe you can envision....but i cant see floyd getting in there....and doing a bhop....throwing 8 punches a round...and trying to avoid shots all night....taking an L cause he got outworked...then bitching about it....floyd has that 0...and i believe he loves that as much as his money
