Vitali destroyed Corrie Sanders for Wlad... Vitali destroyed Ross Purrity for Wlad... Vitali is also the WBC Champion and he made Lewis go life and death with him, who is a definate great. In a rematch not many would pick Lewis, hence the retirement despite the millions like 10 on the table, to take the match. Despite Wlads long time winning record as a HW champion, is Vitali really the greatest HW out there right now?
Since they refuse to fight we will never truly know... but IMHO yes and I think Vitali KO's Wlad easly also.
in certain ways yes. vitali has a better chin, and tends to be a bit smarter in the ring. wlad has better offensice weapons: speed, power, harpoon jab. if they were to fight, id imagine vitali would win, since his chin would hold up and wlads wouldnt.
Not now he isn't. Vitali hasn't impressed me since his return, he's not the force he once was. He looks awkward, his movements are clearly restricted due to his history of injury, his timing looks a little off on power punches to the extent Gomez just plodding forward and he didn't counter him with anything but jabs. The jab is way more effective than anything else in his arsenal right now. His stamina looks questionable. Not surprising of course, 4 years and a lot of injuries later. The Vitali of the Lewis fight would beat Wlad I think.
Wlad right now though has the superior record over Vitali. Despite the fact that I know Vitali would kill Wlad in the ring and is a far greater fighter than him. Does anyone agree with this?
hes always had an awkward style tho. but yea, id attribute his performance in the peter/gomez fights to his ring rust. tbh, i thought he looked really good against peter. went in there and got the job done.
But now he looks even more awkward. I don't just mean awkward stylistically, he looks really uncomfortable at times, and I think the stamina is a part of that. He's blowing really hard after a few rounds. His timing is way off on his power punches. I think Peter made him look great...I wasn't so impressed at all against Gomez. Keeping in mind Gomez was doing nothing special and Vitali made hard work of it. He isn't as dominant as Wlad is right now, Wlad is the noticeably better athlete with sharper skills.
I agree about Vitali. I also believe that Vilali destroyed Peter despite his rust... I could not believe how good he looked in the fight. If complete control is the name, then complete control is his game.
Tough to say Vitali probably has more boxing skills than Wlad and he really hasn't lost a fight. While Wlad has been destroyed three times, and he hasn't avenged them and Vitali has had to do Wlad's work. It is tough to rank Vitali over Wlad just because he has been dominating the division and he has been the best for the past 2 or 3 years now.
Enough with one klitschko i would say Vitaly, cause he survived Lewis and Sanders. The other one is just a boring Olympic boxing machine.
Wlad is much more skilled and fluid BUT Vitali doesn't panic, a younger vitali is easily better but right now it's about even.
