I think if Khan ever gets to fighting the same level of competition that Hatton ended up fighting with and aftr Tszyu there'll be a couple more ko losses in his prime.

I agree with you, there's been quite the shift in opinion

No. Average at best. He may be able to reach the level of a Hide or bruno (not H2H though, achievement wise I mean)

Amir Khan says he is the future of British boxing.
The Bolton star will become only our second world champion if he defeats WBA light-welterweight champion Andreas Kotelnik, live on Sky Box Office, on July 18.
And with Joe Calzaghe retired and Ricky Hatton coming to the end of his career, the 22-year-old is ready to take over their mantle and become British boxing's biggest star.
"I do think they need a new start in British boxing and I think it will be me," he told Sky Sports.
"Winning the next fight will open a lot of doors for me and I do think it will be good for British boxing."
Should Khan win he will join WBC supper-middleweight boss Carl Froch - who is backing him to beat Kotelnik - as the only other Brit to hold a world belt.
But just as importantly it will propel him into world-class, where he can take on the biggest names in the game, with Ricky Hatton already being touted as his next opponent.
"I need these fights to get me where I want to get to," said Khan.
"I'm a fan of Ricky Hatton, it would be a great fight for the British public, two great fighters and two of the biggest boxers in Britain.
"I know I can beat Kotelnik and I know I can take the world title from him. In the future the likes of Marquez, Mayweather and those guys, I'm not saying I can beat them now, but I know when I do hit my peak, these guys are beatable and I've got the style to beat a lot of fighters."
Khan's rejuvenation since the shocking 19-second knockout at the hands of Breidis Prescott has been masterminded by trainer Freddie Roach.
And the man who predicted Manny Pacquiao would beat both Oscar de la Hoya and Ricky Hatton and called Khan's impressive win over the great Marco Antonio Barrera believes his charge can do more than give British boxing a shot in the arm.
"I do believe he is the prospect in the world right now," said Roach. "Now he's getting his chances over here, I definitely feel he's on the right path. He's the UK's next superstar."

hatton is more popular which would make him the higher rated fighter, nothing to do with ability

khan has done absolutely **** all in his career so far and still been knocked out. As soon as he fights a decent opponent he will get knocked out imo.

hatton has the better ability IMO,better body shots, hooks, uppercuts, his jab when used was pretty good as was his right hand, and his footwork at the same stage has khan is now was second to none.

khan is faster, put he pulls his punchs to achive speed, which will be his down fall at world level, roach knows he can't have him planting his feet to much or he will get tagged, and that means:****off

The issue with Kahn is that he's been KO'd, also dropped and wobbled multiple times and he's barely out of Euro class. Maybe Roach and the move up in weight can help sort these problems but its a big if......

Nah, I don't think that Khan has the punch resistance to build up a resume like Hatton.

Hatton's achivements aren't that great, but there still weren't many in his time you would have conclusively favoured over him at his best. A younger Tszyu perhaps, Cotto perhaps, Judah would have been dangerous but not much else at 140.

I doubt if Khan will ever reach that kind of level, I think there will always be a number of guys at any one time he'd want to avoid.

I khan't see it to be honest (sorry couldn't resist). There seems to be a lot of revisionism going on concerning these two fighters in the aftermath of Hatton's loss to Pac and Khan's win over a past-it Barrera. Bottom line, say what you like about Hatton but he's had a good career, been the man at 140 for four years, also won a belt at 147, beaten two p4p fighters and a number of other champs/top tenners, topped the bill in Vegas. People forget it's only two fights ago Khan was ironed out inside a minute by an unknown who has done little else of note before or since.

Stylewise, he has a chance to beat Kotelnik (maybe 50/50), but that is about the only big 140lb fight I' give him an even shot in. Hatton, if he has anything left at all would demolish him as would Maidana, Witter and Ortiz, plus probably Kendall Holt (maybe lethargic at times but if he had landed that first round left hook on Khan rather than Bradley it would have been goodnight). Bradley himself is about the best style matchup for Khan of the top 140lb boys outside of Kotelnik, but he would still be a favourite. Maybe Malignaggi if he can work his way back towards the top. Khan may capture a belt (from Kotelnik?) but I can't see him holding it for too long unless he goes the mandatory/stiff route and I definitely don't see him going Stateside and headlining anytime soon. He is still to beat a top ten fighter of any description.
