Funny how you consider them contenders today and yet Rahman wasn't a worthy challenger when Wladimir kicked his ass.

Nope. Vitali's prime was 1 fight later, when he destroyed Lennox's originally scheduled opponent Kirk Johnson in 2 rounds.

You could say Lewis helped VK find his prime......................:yep

Pointless argument... One of the great fights of recent history, both fighters hurt.. no one knows who would have won if it had not been for the cut, there are Vitali fans who claim the knock out was coming from their man same story for Lewis fans, I cannot agree with either, leave it at that.

Did you miss the 5th and 6th round? Just watch Vitali hanging on for dear life after a Lewis uppercut has him on unsteady legs. Vitali got his ass kicked in those rounds and his girly punches werent bothering Lewis at all. A few more of those uppercuts in the 7th and goodnight Vitali.

I wish the doctor let it go on longer so Vitali would be looking like this

Maybe because a 40yo sumo shot to pieces Toney had just battered Rahman in 2rounds making him quit the fight before Wlad cherry picked him?

Whats your problem with brits :huh you verging on racism :-(

Lewis won the fight and vitty gave hm a tuff fight, yet lewis was far from his best but vitali got a hell of a lot of credit for that fight.

Probably more credit then anyone has ever got for getting stopped in the 6th round, then anyone has got for losing a fight.

At the end of the fight vitali was holding on for dear life, that is a fact and also lewis was coming on strong and vitalis face was a mess fact.

No way could vitali see the punches coming clearly and he was getting hit more regulary and was begining to lose rounds fact as lewis was coming on strong.

Deal with fact not fiction and stop with your bull **** hatred towards my nation as racism sucks

I'd like to of seen a rematch between the two but lewis is a realist and knew he was done, he was slipping badly at the time.

If he would of been prime he would of won more easily, funny how a prime vitali was a mess after 6 rounds against a half shot lewis after only 6 rounds imagine a prime lewis :deal

This isn't even the best HW fight of the last 10 years, let alone "one of the great fights of recent history."

Liakhovich-Brewster was a much better fight. I'd say Ibragimov-Austin is up there too in terms of back and forth action.

I'll grant you that this was probably the most significant HW fight in the last 10 years, but not at all the best or most entertaining.

I don't care who would have won that fight had it not been stopped, Lewis v Vitali should have been a trilogy.

I also thought Vitali had somewhat slowed and Lewis was gaining a little momentum when the fight was stopped...

This fight is another reason why the refs must follow the rule: "If he walks - he can fight".

I never said that he wasn't worthy. In fact I figured that he was a decent, considering he was a last minute replacement. I know there's a lot of unfair hate pointed toward Wlad, but I think I'm pretty reasonable in giving the man his due.
Anyway, my point was that the scene is pretty weak if guys as old as Rahman and McCall are still viable contenders after all these years. So even if I did say that he wasn't worthy, there would be no inconsistency.
