Im trying to start a fght here!! but I thought it was common knowledge that Haye had to give up the gate , the german tv and HBO. and that all he was getting was the Setanta money in order to get the fight. What makes you think this is untrue ?
Thats fair, he should have done that, Wladimir certainly seems the type who would've at least made an effort on it , but I can also understand why he didn't.
Agreed. It was a valid reason to pull out I suppose but why come out of it looking like a compulsive liar?
im taking him at face value,he pulled out because of a bad back, but you cant expect him to fight for nothing.
Earning his shot has nothing to do with what the lower weight class guys are doing. The lower weight class guys are coming up and bringing a lot of MONEY with them and the guy on Top wants to make a payday. Pacquiao gave David Diaz the biggest payday of his career when he moved up and when he fought Oscar it was Oscar who picked Pacquiao to fight with not the other way around. How soon you forget that after Pacquiao lost his first title to Singsurat it was 7 fight before he challenged for a title again at the higher weight class and when he went on to fight Morales years later for the Super Featherweight title the title was Vacant at the time. Taylor - Froch was after Taylor proved himself at SMW against Lacy and represented Froch's biggest payday and high profile fight to date as well as being the only fight he could get since none of the other champions wanted to fight him. Hatton - FMJr was FMJr's biggest payday since DLH, biggest payday in the sport, and a MASSIVE popularity boost. When Calzaghe fought Hopkins it was the biggest payday available for either fighter between Middleweight and Cruiserweight, same for Pavlik - Hopkins, same for any other guy that moves up... they don't automatically go to a title fight unless they, the smaller fighter, represent something the bigger fighter desperately needs or wants. Haye had nothing that Wlad wanted. Haye had a lot of Hype in the media but that didn't translate into $. With enough mouthing off Haye managed to gather enough publicity to make the fight appear lucrative enough on paper, that is until Haye's people balked on their promise to fill a British stadium. Get over it, Wlad has the popularity, the belts and the money...Haye is worthless to Wlad with the exception perhaps when it comes to building a 'legacy', but if you want to talk about it that way then Haye will be worth 10 times more if he PROVES himself at HW first.
Yup. And people like to pump up the fact that Haye was undisputed champ at cruiser. But look at that a bit more closely. He had a title shot, where he managed to win and pick up several straps at once. He defended once. Two championship fights. It's not like he cleared out the division, hunting down worthy belt holders, defeating them and adding them to his collection. It's not like he dominated the division for any length of time. Undisputed champ sounds great on paper. But his real accomplishments at cruiser just don't justify any sort of special treatment in the heavyweight division. If there was no way for Haye to get paid, I don't blame him for not making the fight. However, it does raise serious question marks over his vaunted marketability. Hayeniacs love to harp on about the excitement he brings. Yet he couldn't deliver on Chelsea and he couldn't get much else happening for himself either. It all fell down like a pack of cards. I guess that is what happens when you rely on smoke and mirrors.
Yes i blame him because he could talk to Wlad because of the money. Haye pulls out of this event (61.000 people) and this is a shame for boxing because Haye is a liar! He said he was injured and know he pulls out because of money? atschatschatschatsch
EH ????? Taylor proved himself by beating Lacy ? So only just beating Lacy ( a man who's name is now synonomous with HYPE ) is worth more than knocking Barrett out ? PISH ! but if that arguement doesn't suit your purposes you say earning means bringing the cash ? The lighter man must have a bigger fanbase than the heavier guy ? Thats balls to start with but ok, who out there did people want to see Wlad fight over Haye ? You earn a shot by beating guys , if that happens to be in the divison below , well that precedent has been set a long ****ing time ago !
It seems everyone is agreed that haye should have gone about it differently. so assuming Wlad wouldn't budge on the cash ( which I'm not saying he would have done !!! Just theorectically ) would you then accept that he was right to pull out ?
To be honest that more about how battered out beloved sport has become in this counrty. We couldnt even get a live feed for Froch going to Taylors backyard for a WBC title defence ! It's a ****ing disgrace
Govan, your argument is flimsy, I didn't say Taylor proved himself against Lacy ONLY, he also represented Froch's biggest payday and the highest profile fight available! nobody else wanted to fight Froch because Froch didn't have a 'name' and he needed to fight a 'name' to get it - enter Jermain Taylor, a guy who is only recently removed bring being the lineal MW champion and also the man who's famous for beating the guy that's currently tops at LHW and amazingly still high on the P4P list. As for the lighter man having a bigger fanbase? No you moron! He must have a BIG ENOUGH fanbase and enough support to make the make the fight $$$ more attractive then any other fight the bigger man might be able to get, or in the case of say, um, Berto - Urango it represents the level of risk the promoter is willing to put his fighter in. What you're still missing, and completely failing to prove to me, is what impetus Wladimir Klitschko had for fighting David Haye and now that Haye has blown his shot and thoroughly pissed Wlad off with his horrendous negotiation skills, lying and trash-talking, then take into account that Wlad has mandatory fights coming up ... what impetus Wladimir Klitschko STILL has for fighting yet another in a long line of Cruiserweight hopefuls of out whom so many have crashed and burned before ever coming close.
Yikes ! ( and oh no the little boy on the internet called me a moron , what SHALL I do !! ) ok lets see The Impetus to fight Haye : Well it was the first HW fight in a long time that had boxing fans (using this site as a representative sample of boxing fans ) that was actually creating a buzz. That would seem to be impetus enough. Its not like anyone other than hardcore Klitschko fans were particularly excited about Chagaev. The fight itself showing why. The Taylor point I'm still stuggling with either a mans achievements at a lower division are worth consideration or they are not , you can't have it both ways when it suits what you want it to. One could say Taylor had lost 2 of his last 3 ! I will accept that the Wladimir boat has sailed for now as he has madatories piling up , but what that has to do with wether the fight should have been agreed in ther first place I've yet to fathom ! Oh and I'm pretty sure I have to prove **** all to you !
As much as I dislike Haye, no I would not. A professional boxer needs to get paid, otherwise there is no point in fighting.
I'd guess the problem Haye faced about asking Wlad for the money was that if Wlad says "No, tough luck", whats Hayes options then? To pull out of the fight with a back injury that Wlad now KNOWS is bull****...
