A lot of us thought Audley was the second coming of Lennox Lewis. Audley won an Olympic Gold Medal, matched Lewis in size and talked a great game. What went wrong? The guy has so much talent.
I had a friend over watching an Audley Harrison fight. I told him this is the next HeavyWeight Champion of the World. He said, he dont look very good. I said, you just think that because you dont know anything about boxing. And besides he is a prospect still honing in on his skills. I had several friends over when Harrison fought later. He said to me, isnt it that sensational HeavyWeight prosepct you were telling us about. I said, yeah, just wait and see how much he as developed as a fighter. But Audley was brutally knocked out by Michael Sprott, that was totally shocking and embarrassing.
The funny thing was, in the Sprott fight, he was doing quite well, until he got blasted out. The man can't take a punch. And it's extremely rare i'd say this about a boxer, but I don't think he has any heart. He talks a good fight, but he when an opponent hits back, it's game over for Audley. He is scared of letting his fists go incase he gets hit when trying to land punches.
When Audley talked, he was so confident. And he reminded us of Lennox Leiws So, we are thinking , wow, this guy is really going to go far.
He has no heart, which is a shame for a guy who is physically dominant. but if you look at Williams II you will see a glimpse of what he could have been.
Alarm bells were set ringing when Audley started calling out a mentally ill fighter who hadn't stepped in the ring for a decade. Aka Frank Bruno. WTF was THAT about? :?
he had almost the lot skill, size, ability, but no heart anyone who met him head on beat him. to be a succesfull boxer you must have no fear of taking a punch Audley never lost that fear it always held him back even at the moment of KOing an opponent he still had that fear of one coming back
Watching Harrison against Dominick Guinn was the most pitiful display of two boxers with enormous talent who simply would not use their skills.
