Great fighter for me, anytime he was on Sky, i was there. Exciting, relaxed, composed, came right at you and of course, a BANGER ! ! ! Oh, and he always had cool as **** boots :yep Anyways.......... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKOCUG6BR2s I cant seem to find ****all else on youtube, all my stuff is on videos. That punch was just like the Joe Townsley one, sickening. Fought Harry Simon at quite short notice if i remember correctly. Brit Forum, dish up your memories stories and any links you may have or find. Would be greatly appreciated here. Cheers :thumbsup
ha ha was there at yorkhall....nearly kicked of with takolo mob ,trying to get to wayne...think Matthew marsh was making his debut.
Great thread and video man:good Loved watching Alexander fight and the guy had freaky power, even when he wasnt putting what appeared anything behind his shots he could ko a man.
Expected a bigger return than this, guess they all watching Jacko Nice replies, if ya can find any youtubes etc, fire them up, would be sound :good
Wayne was such a frustrating fighter. He took the Harry Simon fight on the Friday night and made a fist of it but his chin wasn't his best attribute but it made him so exciting. I remember when he won the European title i thought maybe he will make a crack of his career once and for all but nope his career just stalled again. He lacked the skills for world level but could of held a alphabet strap if he fought a B level fighter. He had a strange career he was injury prone and unlucky...i remember a story he was supposed to fight in a title fight and he tried jump gate on his road run and broke his ankle...that's the sort of stuff he had go wrong. He had a war with Paul Samuels if i remember rightly i was a kid growng up back then and Wayne being a south London boy i watched him with interest. Shame his career never went where it could of went.
Wayne was/is a class act in and out of the ring. Very exciting to watch and could KO ANYONE if he landed. His war with Samuels was a great fight, if I remember rightly both were unbeaten going in. His KO of Takaloo is the single most devastating knock out I have ever seen and it's the one I always refer to when discussing spectacular knock-outs. Boxing News recently ran a Top 10 devestating KO's feature and left that one out of the ten, which really surprised me (wrote to them about it).
If he aint coming on here, wish him all the best :good Paper ran a story a while back that he is trying to source a child of his, Scottish i think. Anyways all the best to him wih that too :thumbsup Anyone notice the dude from outside the ring ( Taks family ? ) rush in, then lift his head up and **** when the meds are working, fanny.
great fighter and seems a nice guy too.... that could have been a golden era had the right matches been made.
I remember that knockout being mentioned in a recent issue of boxingnews and I forgot to search for it, cheers Hairy :good
