who was the greatest fighter from spain?

i read an article that it was the recent fighter javier castello who had many achievements especially at a advance age. but there are also other good fighters from spain such as pedro corrasco and miguel valasquez.

 

Paolino Uzcudun? Maybe as a heavy he rates aove Jose Urtain, but I think Pedro Carrasco is actually a better fighter p4p. I know I'm omitting someone greater, Velasquez' main claim to fame was tagging Buchanan with his first loss, but I'm sure that even though they never met again, that Ken would have easily avenged that loss.

 

Maybe it's Castellejo...and that's pretty sad, actually if he is.

Harry Wills (shot)

Jack Renault

Max Baer (maybe a bit green)

And a draw against Max Schmeling (gift)

Despite the circumstances of these wins this is an impresive record.

You know what i thought he was Columbian, but just boxrec'd (haha, had to!), and saw Cuba. Never knew that. I do know about the fighter though. What's the deal with the potential Spanish origin? If you don't mind educating me TB.

No one gives a damn about the sport in Spain. Football, football, football, bullfighting, motorsports, a little tennis and a little basketball. That's about it.

And given their food, their wine and their broads, I ain't feeling sorry for Spain any time soon.

Nothing much to tell; after the Revolution, all professional sport was phased out in Cuba, thus Legra left Cuba and settled down in Spain, where I believe he became a citizen.

 

Oh i see, i've been reeading plenty about the revolution lately. Sorry for another thread hi-jack, but have you seen 'Che', or 'The Lost City'?

 

I have read alot about Che, I have been given the DVD, but have yet to watch it.

You should do, it's in 2 parts, a lot more action than i was hoping for (with stories like that i'd rather have less of the action and more of the important). But enjoy when you get round to it mate.

 

Ernesto Espana was a pretty good fighter. also I blieve Crisanto Espana. or was one of them from Venezuela?
