yeah, he got taken out in the first one. People say it was after the bell, but it seemed right at the bell to me. He never took a particularly good shot, and it only got worse.
Hopefully not. His fights after the two Lewis fights was boring as hell except for when he got stopped by Maskaev again. Rahman represents everything that's wrong with the modern American heavyweight, no dedication to remaining in shape or improving his skills
I still can't believe this guy was once heavyweight champion of the world. Kinda hard to wrap my mind around it.
He's not overly old, yet, and what else is he gonna do to earn decent/big money? I think he'll make another attempt at a comeback. He has to remember to stay away from Oleg, though. That supposedly washed up old dude always means embarrassment for Rock. LOL
If anyone ever watched the complete rise of Hasim as he unfolded from a novice to complete champion , you couldn't help but be a fan. I remember 1st seeing him live in Britain on a show featuring shea Neary in Liverpool i think , he boxed a tough Mexican and deposed him brutally, then not long after he was supposed to fight the then rugged seasoned Obed Sullivan but it was called off numerous times due to different reasons.. When it did happen it was in Harlem i think and Hasim got his best win to date. Hasim was a very well conditioned puncher who was quiet and hardly ever spoke.. It was much later when he started getting a lot of exposure that he found his mouth and got a bit brash.. The night he first showed vulnerability was a shameful one for boxing, when Tua fouled him after the bell clearly and he was never allowed the allocated time to recover by the commissioner.. Tua stopped a damaged Rahman with a relentless onslaught just after that incident.. His win against Lewis was the stuff of dreams, an unheralded challenger was dismissed by a overconfident champion, Hasim had professionally taken to Carnival City weeks in advance to acclimatise and get himself completely prepared for his big night and it all paid off........ I am definitely a fan of Rahmans and i did manage to see him in Vegas 5 weeks ago with his son in the gym , but he was walking terribly , i don't think we will see him fight ever again, he was on walking sticks and looked like he needed surgery on either knees or hips.. Hasims story is a great one and i think it is one that is testimony to him as a character , from rags to riches.. and out of a Baltimore drug , ridden hell , thug life, to top of the world.. Hasim Rahman is one to be respected... mirageboxing.blogspot.com
Brilliant stuff as always Bigcat. Glad to hear that I am not the only Rahman fan.:verysad I am sad to hear that he is using walking sticks. Did you happen too ask him what the problem was? Please pm me so we can discuss your knowledge of Rahman and such. Thank you sir.
He's supposedly on good terms with Arum. With Bob Arum having a hand in the development and promotion of Odliander Solis, it wouldn't surprise me if they dusted Rahman off and fed him (not literally although I'm sure Solis would attempt it) to Solis.
That is of course if Solis gets by the Kingpin (assuming that this fight is a go), which I doubt he will.
But Bigcat said that Rahman is on walking sticks, so unless he gets that taken care of, I agree with Bigcat, we won't see him come back.
