Castillo at least in that 1st fight was the bigger, stronger fighter, you could tell.

FMJs talent so far has prevented us from seeing how much heart he has, we know JMMs heart is massive but we cant say its a definite advantage without real proof.

Floyd has more punching power than JMM IMO, advantage Mayweather in this department.

Same thing I first thought, punching power should go to Floyd...

I'm the last person to be confrontational on the internet so don't take it that way or anything, but taking JMM with mosely or Cotto is too much of an unknown. remember pac vs a broke down DLH was supposed to be a blowout for DLH. So I am not comforitable saying its because he's not on pacs level. I am more comforitable saying that he is too much of an unknown and the pbf fight is the perfect fight to see how much he has at that weight.

I agree with you, PBF vs. JMM is a gauge on how JMM will perform at higher weight (as if Juan Diaz and Casa didn't make a dent on JMM)...

The big difference between JMM-PBF and PAC-DLH fights is, JMM is the one chasing PBF (PBF happily and greedily agreed) while in PAC-DLH, DLH was the one chasing the small PAC and got burned...

Castillo was the stronger fighter most definitely. However, saying 'bigger' implies there was a size advantage. There was none. Floyd may have been at his best at 130, but for someone who starts at 130, 135 is not a leap. Mayweather has fought at 147 and 154, he is not a smaller man than Castillo. They both weighed in as lightweights and fought as lightweights, size was not an issue in that fight. Strength was though, and Castillo was the stronger man.

I think the Castillo fights proved Floyd isn't really a man for the deep water. Sure he can win difficult fights, but he doesn't do this by going for a KO with skill and fire, or trying to impose his will and superiority on his opponent and win as emphatically as possible. When confronted with a torrid task, he gets on the bicycle and boxes. Nothing wrong with that if you get the win, but if someone can get a good lead on him in the first half of the fight, we will see if he has the heart to push the fight. I personally don't think he has, because he never took risks and went for it against Castillo and Oscar, and edged through unconvincingly when the fights were there to be won handily. When Floyd meets someone with the grit and heart of a Castillo and the ability of a prime Oscar, he is in trouble. I'm sure there is a more than adequate counter-argument though, that's just my genuine personal opinion.

Mayweather a harder hitter than Marquez? Nah, not at all. Not even with the weight advantage. Considering the concussive power JMM shows at 135, it's highly possible that he could hit even harder with the extra weight. Mayweather has not shown serious power above 140. Marquez would've got Hatton out of there earlier and has the power to KO Judah. Floyd has enough power to get respect for sure, but he doesn't have the power to KO fighters with proven chin and resilience. Not over 140 anyway.

Fair points but I still believe Floyd will be the power puncher in their fight, H2H as opposed to p4p, the good thing is we`ll get to find out, albeit 2 months later than we first thought.

lets not forget what weight pbf started at. he's lost alot of spark since moving up. problem i am of the school that believes he can still make 140 comforitably and probably be better at the weight. so fighting at 144 may make him seem even slightly faster. though he hasn't fought someone with the tools of jmm in a long long time

JMM throws a lot of punches or more correctly combination of punches. It's Floyd who does not throw a lot. Floyd is better defensively but JMM is far better offensively. IMHO, JMM will prevail in this fight because of his better workrate and harder punches!

    :-(

a fighter whos workrate is high can easily be off set by a great defensive acurrate counter puncher such as floyd. its all about styles, and floyd has that advantage along with the total physical aspect. marquez will be picked apart and busted up IMHO.

if floyd wants to really get some work done he'll get him in the pocket back up a little bit and pull off those wicked uppercuts he's abandoned in recent years

Marquez is a very accurate puncher himself, Floyd will definitely be hit before he can throw his counters which will be less effective.

Great thread buddy really great thread in fact !!!!

However , what you have failed to realise is that the boxing world is not angry with the match up in terms of ability but once again angry that the so called P4P king has all the terms on his side again !!!!!!!

COME ON EL DINAMITA YOU CAN DO IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
