I think this will be Klitschko's biggest test yet.

Agree on all points. Wlad vs Povetkin is a legacy type of fight that matches two top guys in their primes vs each other.

Please explain how Povetkin is a top guy...

Are you judging him by historical standards or contemporary standards?

I suppose I could see where you're coming from, if you use contemporary standards are you basis, but that's more due to the lack of competition rather than the skill of Povetkin who is very very limited.

This is one of the easiest fights to predict.

Guys like Povetkin, who stand straight up, don't move their upperbody, have slow footwork and limited mobility, come foward in straight lines, lack power, stand right in front of you, and are big targets are made for guys like Klitschko.

Povetkin is not a good fighter.

His best performance was against a guy who's lack of conditioning or possibly skill, led him to stand in the pocket while standing straight up and down, inexplicably bend backwards while similtaneously moving his gaurd foward, and lacked power and an offensive arsenal, and Povetkin still managed to look weak in the process.

Since then, many argue that's he's begun to decline, which isn't out of the question given his style which consists of him standing right in front of his opponents and absorbing punches.

You saying it's a good fight, is saying that it's going to be competitive which is complete bull****.

This is a wipeout style fight for Klitschko. This guy has nothing to trouble Klitschko is a PERFECT match for a one sided beating dictated by a jab and moderate footwork. Moderate because that's all it takes.

Povetkin will get the beating of his life in this fight. If only Wlad could throw uppercuts it may be worse, except Povetkin appears almost incapable of bending at the waist, so it probably isn't necessary.

But anyone who picks Povetkin to win, feel free to bet me.

I recall Teddy saying he was not interested in Sam Peter because Peter refused to relocate his training camp. He also mentioned that he did not feel that Peter had the heart of a fighter. I think Teddy is a very good analyst and let's not forget he was around Cus when he was developing Tyson. My guess is that if Teddy can get Povetkin to follow the number calls and bob his head around while getting close, this is the only chance of beating Klitchko. Klitchko likes to keep you at the end of his jab and of the fights he lost it was because of the aggression of his opponents. Manny can't really change that. I only hope that anyone who wants to defeat Klitchko goes in with a plan, maybe clinch enough to tire him out and tag him at the same time.

Perhaps, but Povetkin is fundamentaly flawed.

One training camp won't change what is imbedded in Povetkin's mind and style. He may attempt to use this style, but will likely be uncomfortable, waste a ton of energy, and then resort back to walking straight in, and getting the beating of his life even sooner than if he wouldn't have gassed himself and just took punches like he usualy does.

Still, it's brilliant match making scheme. Guy has great amateur pedigree, looks great on paper, but the reality is that he's the perfect opponent for Klitschko.

Povetkin is more proven and tested at Hevyweight than Haye is. He was moved very fast by his management. Heck, he might have a better resume than Haye already Chambers is better than both Maccarinelli and Fragomeni which are 2 of Haye's top 3 wins.

Who ISN'T a perfect opponent for Wladimir this time ? A cement head who can take umpteen powerpunches a round like Purrity who just wouldn't go away isn't there, also he wouldn't be efficient anymore since Klitschko does not try to KO any opponent with brute force from the first to the last round at any cost. There is noone like Sanders at all, who was a rare type of fighter anyways. 237lb Peter was last seen when Britney Spears was a hot 115lb sexbomb. Lamon Brewster just got lucky to survive the first 4 rounds without dieing, which would not happen again anyways with the fuelsaver Klitschko (and checking his tapwater ...). David Haye is a 90s powerpuncher minus the chin he needs to keep long enough in the fight to land. Boytsov too small. Briggs 15 years too old. Dimitrenko got exposed already. Chambers has the skill but not the power.

The short list of "dangerous opponents who will give Wlad a harder fight than Hayden Pannettiere" is actually an empty sheet of paper.

I believe this fight will result in a late stoppage, Povetkins corner will most likely throw in the towel. Just don't see him getting close enough to hurt Wlad.

true. id rather see shannon briggs fight wlad. he is big enough to handle klits size, has quick hands when he lets go, has enough power to ko vitali while koing wlad and stagger valuev with the concussion from it. throws from angles when he lets go

I believe Wlad will knock him out but that doesn't mean he hasn't earned his shot. No other Heavyweight fighter in recent memory has fought & beaten better competition in such a small amount of fights. He's earned his ass kicking................

"Great matchmaking" sounds as if you're saying Wlad had a choice as to who was the mando.
