Yea I like Rock too. He takes a good ass whupping and that makes for an entertaining fight. Hell he almost went out of the ring the second time against Maskaev. At least he comes to fight.
I actually think he'd do it either way. Rahman has that "in it for the cash folks" vibe seeping out of his pores so even if Solis were to lose to Kingpin Johnson, I think Arum would feed him Rahman after a few of those "Comeback" fights.
Rahman used to be really good fighter, but he did not always train, had other problems. (drugs?) His chin problems were caused by not being in shape, which makes a difference.
:think You know what, I sadly agree that this is a possibility. Even at this point in his career, a fit Rahman could potentially spell all kinds of trouble for Solis, but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Solis win a UD, in fact, I would expect it. As you know Arriba, I would be voting for Rahman all the way though. Solis is with Arum? I thought he was with Oner...
I agree 100%. He was a pretty good fighter back in the day, but has since lost the hunger to remain at the top. I know he used to be a drug enforcer, but from all accounts I have heard, he is a devoted Muslim, husband, and father, and doesn't do drugs.
He usually does, but that last time out against Wlad, it didn't appear as though he came to do anything more than collect a paycheck.
^^ i agree. i'm more than a little dissapointed in him because that was a pure paycheck fight. i mean boxing is a job like any other but come on...
I wouldn't be surprised to see Rahman back in the ring again. He still has a name and is totally shot. He'd make the perfect opponent for some young fighter to put a name on his resume. I always felt Rahman was more than just a one hit wonder. His win over Sanders was an exciting fight. Barrett and Meehan were ok wins and I thought his draws with Toney and Tua were clear Rahman victories. Not an all-time great but he was a top ten contender for years. My biggest problem with Rahman was that he too often came in fat and out of shape. He had some skill but wasted a lot of it. I think he quit in the Toney rematch and has looked like a shot fighter for his last several fights. I'd say I was slightly a fan of his. He was a great talker and always fought the best out there that balanced out the laziness and out shape faults of his.
:yep I was truly disappointed. He should have at least gone for broke and thrown everything he had at Wlad. He may have even had a shot at it with that big right hand of his.
Here's a thought; Rahman is a good talker as mentioned above. He seems to be well spoken when not pulling his "gangsta" routine, and is very knowledgeable on boxing, so why doesn't he try to land a job as a commentator? Just a thought.
