It's easier to go up in weight than it is to go down.

Floyd weighs less than 150 on fight night at 147. While Cotto is near 160.

    Completely different.

cos some people can't accept that pac is the best. instead of giving pac credit for fighting big guys (unlike mayweather), they still hate him for the courage and guts to face guys that he shouldnt be fighting in the first place.

There is no double standard here, there are just a bunch of boxing fans that forgot they weren't boxer PR agents and managers.

Pacquiao vs Cotto should be happening at 147 and if Pacquaio doesn't want to fight at 147 then he should be looking at another fight.

JMM vs PBF should be happening at 140 and if Floyd doesn't think he can make 140 then he should look for another opponent.

Catch weights (for these two situations) are not in the best interested of all the fighters (mostly JMM & Cotto) and they are not in the best interested of the sport and its fans (makes these bouts less competitive).

All these boxing PR agents and managers can ***** and moan about how one match up is more or less fair than the other but at the end of the day both sides are hypocrites and should leave the posturing to the real agents and managers and just support their fighter on fight night.

Sorry, I still think it's a joke, and the joke's being perpetrated by Mayweather. JMM is one of my favorite fighters, and pfp, he gives Mayweather a run for his money (no pun intended), but at 144, he's way, way above his natural weight. Marquez will be at a huge disadvantage. Would I like to see JMM knock Mayweather the **** out? Hell, yes. But I think Marquez's corner will end up throwning in the towel around the 7th.

    I believe it's for a couple reasons.

    1. Because trump his win at 147 like one of the biggest, legacy defining fights for him. Ignoring that that fight was against a fighter who was shot and weight drained. So if he wants to prove the fight at 147 meant anything, then he'd have to prove he can compete with a live fighter at that weight.

    2. When Cotto was fighting at 140 several years ago he weighed in at 157 fight night against Corley. There are claims that the light hitting Corley almost KO Cotto because of that issue. So imagine now that Cotto fights at 147, how hard would it be for him, and what the consequences would be. We've all seen what happened to RJJ and ODLH when they came down.

Mayweather does not appear to have difficulties with weight like Cotto, and most people believe Mayweather could fight at 140 and should have against Hatton.

Pac had never fought at 147 and 140 and then he destroyed Oscar and Ricky. Everyone thought he was small but the results ..... So, it is O.K. for Maquez to fight at 144, he looks like he has a bigger frame than Pac - and remember, he ended his first 135 fight by knocked out Diaz; NO JOKE.

You are correct I guess we should focus on the KO and conveniently ignore the rest of the fight where JMM was at best barely holding his own for most of the rounds against Diaz.

We should also probably ignore that Pac didn't lose a round since his last fight with JMM at 130 which cannot be said for JMM who has struggled defensively against both Casamayor and Juan Diaz.

While we are at it we should ignore the fact that Pacquiao admitted to struggling to keep at 130 while JMM has never had this issue. But of course it is JMM with the larger frame who getting overwhelmed by the Baby Bull while Pacquiao demolishes Hatton at 140.

The Boxing Gods did not create Catch weights it was the same group of idiots that made the Jr and Super divisons.
Here is my beef with Cotto Pacquiao at 144~
Roach knows that there will be a clear advantage to Pacquiao if Cotto doesnt take the weight down right, and rehydrates correctly, this is obvious to everybody, However it will be for the Welter weight Championship.
So if its going to be for that title that Cotto does hold it should be at that weight, Manny can weigh in at 144 all he wants but Cotto should be allowed to come in where he is most comfortable after all it is his championship.
Sure Manny is P4P right now, and yes its a huge fight for Cotto, but the reality of it is, Cotto doesnt need Manny, yes the money will come in handy but there will always be money out there to be made as long as Cotto makes "Smart Business decisions':good

Obviously, you did not read my post fully. I can understand Floyd but how about Marquez who has the same situation as Pac?

Because JMM and PAC are NOT on the same level... Fans give more breathing space for the lesser fighter in JMM and so stiff when it comes to a bigger name fighter like PAC...

Have you heard JMM being pitted with Mosley? or Cotto? None, nada coz fans see it as a non-competitive fights... Not a logical match-ups...

While PAC vs. Cotto (PAC might be the favorite here!!) and PAC vs. Mosley are seen as very competitive fights...
