    Charley Burley, of course...

And for a totally different reason,
    Ray Mancini and Georgie Small...

Harry Wills is pretty tragic ... ducked for all those years because of skin color and then had to live with Dempsey basking in myth ... how Dempsey was able to look himself in the mirror is beyond me ... at least Langford had one shot at Johnson ...

    Cerdan, without question IMO.

The war cost him a possible shot at the welterweight title, and then forced him to spend his prime years in semi-obscurity. Reportedly suffered a severe shoulder injury in his first defense, costing him the fight. The rematch is postponed when LaMotta is injured, and then he is killed flying to the States for the date of the postponed rematch.

    Liston

Started late, clears out the title contenders, Floyd and Ingo tied each other up and avoided him, then when he finally gets the title runs into arguably the greatest heavy ever.

Agreed, My heart goes out 2 him, talk about being shafted with barbed wire, you could tell at the end ov the fight he just expects 2 get done over time & time again & in time honoured fashion he does get turkey'd with impunity.

Talk about mentally hard as ****in nails:yep i wonder what he does 2 calm down:fire
