Thats it. His legacy is what it is. Cotto needs this way more than Pacman does. And PBF needs it more than Cotto for money reasons. If they dont fight you really think Pacman will lose sleep over it. No like Scar said he will just move on probably take a tune up fight with someone at 140 with a belt. Like say Bradley then fight the winner of PBF JMM. Its that simple.
For Pacman YES. Did you somehow miss this against the best 140 fighter out there. [YT]A_MevXS19FU[/YT] [YT]dqzA9TycW-Y[/YT]
Rephrase it then, if Cotto is allowed to weigh in up to 147, is 100% and is 160 lbs on fight night and then he wins against Pac who would be around 148, would that diminish his win too? In the end, Cotto doesn't need to say yes to the terms (and I hope he doesn't), I don't understand why people seem to keep overreacting when nothing final has been signed yet. If he agrees to a weight it means he feels he is still 100% or close enough to it, that's all it takes to make it a fair fight. It's not like he's in the same situation as Marquez and is desperate for a big fight, he's very marketable and all of his choices can earn him big money.
you did not answer my question you moron!atsch everyone wants to fight Pac but Pac knows what beating Cotto will do for his legacy unlike you. PBF and JMM are fighting each other, if he does not fight Cotto, Cotto might fight Mosely those are the only big money fights out there, they all have fights coming up. Katsadis, Juan Diaz and Bradley are not big money fights (>$10M), do you understand?? or do need pictures along with the words???:nut now tell me who he can fight, rematch Hatton or DLH?:huh
WE NEED IT!!!! Well....boxing fans are in for a treat if they can square this away. It would be great for the sport. I wish they could just agree on 145 which Roach said was no problem, but PAC is the one who has to fight so he has to make that decision. I think PAC beats Cotto at JR WW, WW or anything in between. THere are some reservations on his behalf that seem to weigh on his mind about the higher catch weights.
his reservation, is about being hit in the face and body by one of the hardest hitting WW in the world:deal
PAC is a beast! A great fighter no doubt. Rick was just too slow. He didn't come in recklessly like many have been saying after the destruction he just wasn't fast enough or PAC was too fast and was able to counter him extremely well. Definitely a good style match up for PAC to say the least but we gotta give credit where credit is due. Cotto would be a harder challenge for sure but I hope this catch weight ordeal works out soon.
I'm sure PAC had reservations for JMM, MAB, EM, Rick, DLH and others as well. For Cotto, PAC should have reservations as should Cotto about PAC. This is a dangerous fight for both, But warriors do what the do and face their obstacles the same way....they fight it out.
Weighing more or less than your opponent is not as big a deal as some think. Manny should just man-up and fight the guy. Apply this to heavyweights, there are some small heavyweights, hell Holyfied moved up from cruiser weight and fought guys that outweighted him by 30-40 pounds. Imagine Holyfied telling Douglas he would only fight him at a 220 pound catchweight. Smaller guys learn how to move around and adjuast to bigger, harder hitting fighters. Half of the guys Tyson knocked out outweighed him by several pounds.
There is a difference from HW's to the smaller fighters. HW's usually have the size and mass that allows them to KO anyone based purely on being physically large. Smaller fighters don't "always" have that capability. Some are powerful for their size but usually are not capable of one punch KOs. Size in the lower divisions come into play far more than the HW's which is why most smaller fighters are more skilled, have more demensions and work with a greater skill set. Holy is a GREAT fighter, he had a massive beard and was able to carry power up when he made that move to HW. Tyson was just an EXPLOSIVE fighter who had great power and speed and was very diverse.....Holy was supermely skilled and diverse as well. IN the lower weight divisions size is a big factor but not so much with BIG men at HW.
143?! this fight will be probably be @144 (pac asking for 143 while cotto says 145) which is fair considering that cotto will have a 10+ lb weight/size advantage vs. pac during the fight.
