If JMM-PBF is @ 144, what's your beef w/ Pac Cotto at l44?

What about the advantage of Cotto? :nono Catchweight has already been there before the junior/super weight divisions were created. It is precisely created to level the playing field. Btw, we have this such a thing as contracted weight. It is an agreed weight that both fighters should come in at weigh in. You cannot just allow Cotto to weigh at any comfortable weight he wants. No puede, senor, because there is a contract. :deal

Pac and Cotto should just have the weigh in at fight night with the weight at 147 to silence the detractors and prevent too much weight disparity. Problem solved.

PBF isn't a real welterweight, Cotto is. PBF could fight comfortably at 140 most likely... Cotto will be a skellington at a catchweight.

I don't really like the fight JMM-PBF all that much, too much is in PBF's favor, but what the hell it's win/win for JMM. If he loses, no big deal, he lost to a bigger man. If he wins, katy bar the door he'll be as big a superstar as Pac, if not bigger.

Basically 2 main reasons. Cotto cuts more weight than Mayweather. Pacquiao-Cotto is a title bout, and title bouts below the weight limit (even though it's been done numerous times before) do lower the "pureness" of the being the champion of a division.

What double standards? Both instances are stupid as ****.

If the JMM and Pac can't do 147, they shouldn't be taking these fights. End of.

From an athletic standpoint I would agree, JMM is not on Pac's level. What Pacquiao is doing moving up in weight as fast as he is and still maintaining a solid level of opposition is fairly unheard. Pac is the exception not the rule.

Having said that, let it not be confused JMM is most certainly on or arguably above Pac from a boxing perspective.

Cotto is a natural bigger man and its hard to drain your self 1 or 2 xtra pounds when you have been drainin yourself for the whole training camp already. pac-cotto, pac benefits. jmm-pbf, pbf

Pac would not be fighting for a welterweight title. If they are not fighting for a title I don't care what weight it's at but you can't ask for a 147 pound fighter and want it from a 144 pound fighter.

Not to mention that FLoyd fans generally say that he is a "very small welter" or not a real welter when defending his decision to not fight guys like Margarito and Paul Williams. It's pretty much universally accepted that Floyd could easily still make 140 if he wanted to.

Bottom line both are very good matchups. You have 4 great or borderline great fighters going at each other.

No matter how you slice the pie it pits a smaller man against a bigger man. In a perfect world they would all be the same size.

But I don't see how people can expect so much from guys who fought at 130 last year. It seems like because Pac has defied logic he has now become a bigger man. He has but only in status not stature.

I'm happy these guys are getting it on. Maybe I'd like a little different weight. But **** it's not my money or fight. You guys are acting like these guys are old men. Floyd and Cotto are in their respective primes physical and mental so a couple pounds will not hurt them like and older fighter.

It's true the level of Pac hatred is off the scale. I just don't see where it all comes from? What's to hate about the guy?

Maybe it's only a few select haters who are starting ridiculous threads which get the people who are neutral wound up.

Don't agree with that conclusion. Pac's best weight is a 140. Cotto's best weight is at 147. Fairness said they should meet in the middle but Pac is going ot meet him at 145. THAT'S 5 POUNDS ABOVE PAC'S BEST WEIGHT AND ONLY 2 BELOW COTTOS BEST WEIGHT.

Cotto should fight the BEST version of PAC and that is as close to 140 as possible. By taking the fight on at 145 he's getting a still sharp but slightly slower version. Pac is DEVASTATING at 140.
