All of that talk is immaterial because Cruz will only be holding that belt for another 2 days before he hands it over to Solis. Solis already beat him before when he was young and inexperienced, and although Cruz is in the form of his life at the moment I don't see the result changing 2nd time around. Solis would be a much tougher proposition for either Lindsay or Hyland, and much less likely to come to Europe too. Anyway Patrick Hyland currently is ranked by the IBF and winning the IBF International title does not guarantee a top 15 IBF placing. Infact unlike the IBF Inter-Continental title, the IBF don't seem to put anyway value in fighters holding their International title whatsoever.
Fair play to him, any boxer would grab it if the shot was therevwhat can be the worst outcome.... lose fighting for a world title......and every fighter will step up their game for a world title fight.... just look at how bernard dunne came back and won his all over the way he stepped up his game...
TAYLOR MARCHES ON IN RUSSIA http://www.irishtimes.com/sports/other/2009/0709/1224250382550.html WALSH EXPECTS O'NEIL TO BE IN MIX FOR MILAN DESPITE INJURY BLOW http://www.irishexaminer.com/sport/...-mix-for-milan-despite-injury-blow-96005.html
i dont think hyland would beat cruz and the fight would probably be in mexico or the usa.doesnt matter though imo cos solis will beat cruz saturday
Well none of us have a crystal ball fenian, so Im hoping for a Cruz win so maybe will can see another Irish boxer challenge for a title.:yep
Well here's the situation. 1.Cruz barring a technical draw(early decision due to cuts), no decision or Hail Mary punch is losing his title tomorrow. 2.Patrick Hyland isn't even ranked by the IBF currently and may not be after the Herrera fight either. So he can't fight for the title(at the moment) anyway. So right now we're quite far away from it happening.
Was anyone in the stadium last night Sheehan was brought to a double countback by Murray who whilst a good boxer really shouldnt be getting that close to Roy,Any feedback on the fight? Also O Kane beaten again on double countback i saw these two fight in the seniors and o kane was in serious trouble in the first before Keller punched himself out.Was it more of the same?
CALDWELL A TRUE GREAT OF THE RING http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/sport/other-sports/caldwell-a-true-great-of-the-ring-14399389.html MAGEE TARGETS WORLD TITLE SHOT http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/sport/other-sports/magee-targets-world-title-shot-14399390.html EGAN CLOSES IN ON IRISH PLACE AS FITZGERALD IS SENT PACKING http://www.independent.ie/sport/oth...lace-as-fitzpatrick-sent-packing-1817218.html TAYLOR THROUGH TO FINAL http://www.independent.ie/sport/other-sports/womens-boxing-taylor-through-to-final-1817220.html John Caldwell fought before my time, but I grew up listening to stories of his fights. The part of Belfast where I originated was Ardoyne, we had our own boxing great also in Freddie Gilroy. After Caldwell lost his world title he moved up in weight to box and lose against Gilroy. The story goes that there were fist fights in abundance between the the rival supporters, and the Kings Hall was packed to capacity.Caldwell was a plumber was by trade, as I am. Although I never worked with him, quite a few of the men I worked with in the 80s did, and they found him a nice man and a real character[if not the best on the tools]. John would talk openly about any of his fights wins or loses, except the Gilroy loss, that loss always touched a raw nerve with him. R.I.P JOHNNY
The irish boxing scene is quite a large one at the minute right across the board.. Andy Lee, John Duddy, Dunne, Rogan, Jamie Moore even has roots in ireland, and along with former opponent Matt Maklin, Henry Coyle and US based James Moore.. Great stuff if any terrestrial channel can get ahold of this ... Ireland have some great prospects and they are such a passionate crowd, my grandfather was born and raised in Northern Ireland and he instilled a lot of my passion in boxing inside of me.. mirageboxing.blogspot.com
