Alberto Davila gets my vote. Came up at the time when Zarate and Pintor ruled the bantamweights, and though he acquitted himself very well, he lost to both in title challenges. He also lost a very, very close decision to an (imo) underrated Jorge Lujuan in his other title attempt. Still, he soldiered on, and when Pintor retired, Davila was matched with Kiko Bejienes. He won that fight in the 12th round to achieve his dream...but, unfortunately Kiko died as a result of injuries sustained in the fight. Davila kind of lost his will to fight after that, although he came back for a while. In his fight with Frankie Duarte he lost a fight he was winning handlily on the cards when a bad cut was opened. In his other two title challenges, he faced an extremely underrated Miguel Lora and though he fought well as per usual, just didn't have enough to beat him at that point. Seriously, they should make a movie about this guy's career.
to be fair it wasnt as though he was protecting against it a fighter should lways know to protect them selves at all times he just forgot Honestly that is the best bantam weight division ever and AlFrancis must be proud of his Dad being a top contender in those days. His Dad must also be proud
He was reportedly winning the fight until that **** happened. The Parisians refused to call the fight a no-contest (like it obviously should've been) and forced him to continue fighting, and their local boy came back to take his title. D'Agata was further screwed when the Frenchman (or any other champion after that) refused to give him a shot at the title.
The people who pushed Moore to the top so quickly, and then stuck him in the ring with Duran in his 13th (?) pro fight, should be hung from a tree in my backyard so I could torture them daily.
Without a doubt, Terry Malloy. I coulda had class, instead of a bum, which is what I am." Fricken Brando and Steiger. Honestly, I'd say Bennie Briscoe. Came around at the time of Monzon and Valdez. I think it was Rodrigo Valdez. I may be wrong. But two great middles. Could of whipped anybody outside of those two. When they faded Hagler came around. Big fan of Bad Bennie. New guy. :hi:
