That includes Norris himself. Norris: "Ray Leonard is pushing it by taking on me. His good days are behind him."
I agree 100% I feel it was a close but clear Leonard win... I think Marvin`s 2 decades of crying (because he knows he lost deep down & is angry with himself because he hates Leonard) has brainwashed people a little. Most fans have it for Leonard, 2 judges had it for Leonard, most experts have it for Leonard & Leonard ranks higher on almost every p4p list. Nothing more to discuss.... the end ! (sorry Marv, quit the ****, grow up & admit defeat) :good
Very interesting indeed :think ****in hell... Duran wasnt exactly correct in his prediction was he ? He let his heart rule his head again.
Just remember, the 60-67 mentioned favouring Hagler were favouring him pre fight. This isn't how they actually scored or saw the fight.
Anybody who scores this to Hagler is wrong, you've all been reading Steve Marantz'z 'Sorcery at Caesars' .. This fight wasnt even controversial, Leonard wins the first 4 rounds, Hagler takes the some middle rounds but Leonard definately takes 3 out of the last 4 rounds giving him 'at least a 7-5' advantage .. For me its not even hard to score, unless you are a diehard Hagler fan, or if you score a guy for just walking forward .... I know Leonard's strategy is too steal rounds in the last 30 seconds but he does more in those last 30 seconds than Hagler does for the majority 2.30 .. Its Haglers worst performance ever, not because Leonard was brilliant but because Hagler was ageing and was slow. He retired because he realised that any boxer with a bit of speed could outbox him, not because of his faux bitterness with Leonard or the judges .... Leonard wins this fight doing hardly anything, but 'hardly anything' was still enough to outpoint Hagler on this night at Caesar's ..
I had this stinker a draw, but Hagler blew it mentally:yep He had this chip on his shoulder that just weighed him down, he let Leonard get 2 him time & time again over the years & went out in the 1st round with the dickhead idea that he' get some respect from leonard by switching stance back & forth, posing & generally telling Leonard "I'am in no Hurry i'll get you whenever i want" By adopting this posture in the 1st 3 rounds he totally surrendered the inititive 2 Leonard who in effect took control ov the pace ov the fight. It was Haglers corner that got me, why did'nt they just say "JUMP ON THE *****" Leonard was slow motion himself after 4 rounds but Hagler did the same when he fought Duran, he seems 2 have this inferority complex & Hagler & his corner just did'nt here the tick, tock, tick, tock ov the clock until the alarm went off. We all know Leonards a conman & you would'nt buy a new car never mind 2nd one hand off the ****er but i bet he could'nt believe his luck that he was still there untouched after 4 rounds, so 2 me morally Hagler blew it 4 himself & every other decent boxing fan who wanted 2 see this shitbag Leonard wiped out once & 4 all. I called it a draw & i've also called it 4 hagler by a round & leonard by a round as it was that tight but you could def see how the judges could be swayed 2 Leonard + what with all the sweetheart bitches yelping like hyena's every time ray did a pitterpatter on haglers head. We all know hagler should have just been more professional & fought over 15 rounds or if over 12 just jumped on the **** & he would have KO an exhausted Leanard by the 8th round instead ov poncing around trying 2 get leonards RESPECT:smoke
Not much controversy here .... Leonard fought smart and won. That's it. But I am still mad at Hagler for letting Leonard get easily away with it. Suck it up Marv, you blew it!!!
Leonard won, in typical maddening Leonard fashion, but he won. Bottom line: he landed more. Yes, Hagler allowed himself to get increasingly flustered, thus allowing Leonard to get increasingly confident. No doubt boxing is very much a mental game; hence this forever-stinking result.
