OK Both camps have been informed -

The protest has been denied - the panel of 3 judges scored the fight almost identically to the fight on the night however it's a split points to Geale (the 114-113 came down in his favour). The President scored the fight 114-114 a draw. The other points were noted but it was found to have no case. HOWEVER Geale on the weight of his performance and under our championship rules has been made mandatory challenger that Mundine must face by February

    Thanks for the update Phil.

It will be an interesting 8 months, waiting to see what excuses Mandy uses to now duck Geale and move to yet another weight class.

IMO Geale could do with a fight or two before facing choc again, although think choc will dodge him.

I really don't want to see Mundine fight Geale again. Mundine should, but won't, move on to fighters like Sturm, Pavlik, Abraham, Froch, Bute, Andrade, Jermain Taylor, Allan Green, Andre Ward, Andre Dirrell, etc etc. Imo Geale is still just a good prospect because Mundine is clearly past his best and not fighting at his best weight so we are still uncertain as to whether Geale can cut it on the world stage.
Anthony should step the **** up and Geale should go overseas for experience against good quality middleweights.

Cheers for the update but yeah lets be real the chances of mundine facing geale again are pretty slim especially with talk mundine might face bika. Im thinking mundine will vacate the title leaving a possible geale vs soliman showdown if sam beats this undefeated bloke.

Sam's fight on the 31st is off. His opponent pulled out and they couldn't find anyone to take him on (for the eliminator).

Geale should go to the states for a while , hook up with a good trainer and learn the real nuts and bolts . Possibly take a few decent fight there , espn etc . I like him as a prospect , he could do bigger and better things . For all Mundines bull**** talk he's still a class operator in the ring and Geale handled him .

Disagree with you a little bit here. How can you say that Mundine is still a class operator now especially at 160 with what he has done over the past 3 years. Mundine has zero power at the weight, realistically he should have been able to ktfo someone like a totally washed up Shannon Taylor whenever he felt like it but he didn't or couldn't. Yes Geale did very well aginst Mundine and yes Anthony performed well against Geale who had only ever beaten journeymen up to that point, but does this mean that they are both top class at 160 or does it mean that they are both mediocre at 160 ? Imo there are question marks over both these fighters at world level at 160.

  11. Yeah good thinking, as many reasons as why there should be a rematch it's best both fighters get out of this country and make some deals with the US fighters. Both are talented enough. Geale has great potential to be a good rep for Australia overseas.

Thats no good.....I still think Mundine will move on....hope he fights Bika next.

Looking forward to Geale VS Sam

And on the result....It was a great fight...very close and hard to score....if Geale would have got the win I would not have argued....but for the record......You can call him "Mr 3 time"

I do hope Mundine and Geale fight again in the next 16 months......if its anything like the first fight it will be great.

Interesting. So the judges scored a split decison for Geale?

    Nice vindication.

    I thought Mundine fought well.

I'd be keen to see Geale step it up overseas in the next 12 months

Are you interested in Geale VS Sam for the IBO MW title?
