Is it time that the BBBC got their act together and began to assist promoters with the marketing of the sport by providing followers with official ratings, information and assisting in the marketing of the sport in general?

It seems that the BBBC website is emptier then Father Christmas' sack on Christmas eve. A picture of a belt and little else there is nothing to suggest that the board have any real control of what happens in the sport within the UK.

I feel its time that they took charge in a way that the UFC has and began making sterner requests on the promoters and ensuring that boxing as a sport is driven forward positively.

Boxing is the only major sport with no official universal governing body and it needs to change. It makes sense for the board to do this job as they are ultimately the decision makers.

I feel that this is the only way for the sport to recover from this nose dive. I needs to be correctly and properly monitored, maintained and recorded. Its time for a change. Barry Hearn has said it, most true fans say it... the only people that say nothing are those who are coining it in by milking the cow till it keels over.

    Time for a change.

I'm pretty hopeful I won't get banned for this, its not slagging anyone its a suggestion. I want adult feedback then I'm going to do something about it.

Well apart from the obvious....I am guessing the lack of content on the BBBofC and the **** poor presentation, plus the fact they are trying to flog a product to you as soon as you go to the site instead of the latest updates in British boxing - like last nights show for example.

Imagine all the teams in the football league with no real organisation. It would be a mess, Yes Arsenal and Man utd etc would be ok but who'd give a **** about Preston north end, Blackpool, Carlisle, Fulham..... The sport succeeds at all levels because it is cleverly administrated and boxing could do that too.... New idea's needed.

Personally I don't believe that the BBBofC area big enough or rich enough organisation to be in any kind of position to do anything about this so called 'nose dive' boxing is on. The promoters run the show when it comes to the match ups and marketting/promoting.

I think the modern media has overhyped the big matches to the point where the man on the street doesn't care so much about the British title for example.

I also don't think it is fair to put the BBBofC's website up as an example of the state of british boxing...I wonder if the American version of the BBBofC (terribly dumb of me not to know what it is called I know) website is much different.

I think that where the UFC is better than Boxing is in the number of belts that are being fought for. When you have a UFC show it is several title fights and a good quality undercard. Boxing you can have one or two good bouts but the rest are usually one sided and not as exciting.

Not sure how it would be possible to merge all the WBC, IBF, WBA 's et al into one but that would be a start. Too many infuential promoters milking the fans for that to happen.

Thats the problem (as well as other things) - and last night there were no good bouts and they were all one sided apart from the Peret fight.

America has commissions.... and just because they are **** doesn't mean ours has to be. There is massive potential here. Imagine BBBC website been a hub for all official boxing announcements relating to UK boxing. That website would get all the traffic that at the moment is diluted onto all the other sites... then you have the marketing potential, the information exchange of licence holders, fighters etc.... The lineage of area titles, British titles etc... If this is done correctly it will succeed and will form a point of reference for all boxing fans.

Its all about the product though Dismas and the product is too diluted at the moment, on all sides of the pond. Jazzing it up and making it more accessible will only be seen as an attempt to dupe the average joe and they won't buy it, just as many hardcore fans won't buy the scandalous PPV's we are getting nowadays. There are too many title holders who are happy getting thier pay days rather than battle it out with the best of thier weight division trying to prove they are the best.
I don't think the boxers are blameless here.

9ball start domestically and set an example, if watching two naked men who punch like their in a playground can succeed primarily because of boxings shortfalls then the greatest sport of all- our sport, can make it. The bbbc can do this I'm positive and as a license holder I'm going to put it to the board Monday- well to mr smith.

That is something we do have going for us. MMA is just a bit **** to watch from an aesthetic point of view.
