I'm no Joe Calzaghe fan at all nor do I think he's unbeatable like his fans do. I thought Hopkins beat him in their fight but i'm not here to talk about that. Most people talk about how pretty boy Floyd is the best p4p fighter in the world and some think he's one of the best ever. I think Calzaghe would be a stylistic nightmare for Floyd if this fight were to happen. I mean bad.

After watching Floyds fight against Oscar and Oscar was past his prime, Oscar would of beatin him if he could maintained his workrate in the later rounds. In order to beat Calzaghe you gotta be consistent, counter punch him, punch inbetween in his punches like Hopkins did, but you also gotta able to use the ring well to count down on his punch output and your stamina has to be good. Hopkins legs and stamina was faded a little when they fought and I still thought he edged Joe but Floyd doesn't have the ring IQ that Hopkins has.

Mayweather has good footspeed, and a good defense but he pot shots too much and stays on the defense too much. I see this fight looking the Roy Jones fight in a lotta ways. He would force Mayweather to fight out of his comfort zone and Floyd would have not only bring the fight to him at times(and that's something he doesn't like to do) but he would also have to up his workrate. Calzaghe would keep him on the defensive most of the fight, plus when you take into the fact that he's a southpaw and he's a good boxer as well, Floyd would have trouble timing him with his counters.

Pot shotting and moving out of the way like Floyd usually does ain't gonna work against Calzaghe and I think Calzaghe would dominate Floyd Mayweather just based purely on styles. Floyds lucky they ain't the same size.

well i guess i see your point in terms of styles but...they are 21 pounds apart. even taking that into account you can't compare. and no, it wouldn't look anything like the jones fight as floyd still has a pulse.

JOE C (one month before jones fight is signed): Roy Jones is shot, he's washed up and done

JOE C (day of signing Jones fight): Roy Jones is a P4P great and one of the best fighters ever. This will be a great contest: me against one of...no THE best fighter out there today.

Mayweather would lose but put up a fight at least.

Roy still had decent speed when he fought Calzaghe and Floyd doesn't have no where the speed Roy had in his prime. If he did, than it would be a different story.

Roy had some speed but zero power...which to be honest is how you could describe Floyd in this scenario.

calzaghe would win, but that still doesnt change the fact that Joe is the most overrated fighter of the past 15 years....
