I thought the same thing. He deserved the punishment but Calzaghe taunting in the late rounds of the fight was ridiculous, I could understand in the early rounds, but when the fight had clearly already been won there was no need to keep doing it in the final round.

no, watching roy in the first tarver fight you could tell he was out of his prime. some fighters hit a wall over a long period of time, just lose it gradually (ie: ali, holyfield) some guys get old overnight (ie: bowe) some guys lose 20 pounds of muscle and get knocked out by someone who couldn't handle them even a few months before (ie: jones). watch the fights and tell me that's the same roy jones... or lie to yourself. your call.

Yes he was out of his prime. Roy has no reflexes now like he did when he was in his prime, the outstanding reflexes are the whole reason why he could hit and not get hit himself.

It would have been a way different story if they all fought him in his prime.

What a load o' shite that is.

Roid was 193 for the Luiz fight. He probably dropped down to 185 for the Tarver fight, then cut water weight down to 175 for the weigh-in. The Roid crew loves this excuse.

Roid was exposed that fateful night. Tarver, although I can't stand him either, must be given full credit as well as Johnson and Calzaghe.

I give them credit for doing what they did.....beating Roy is a hard task to do even out his prime, but Roy was cleary not the fighter he was before in these fights.

I remember as far back as the mid nineties, that turd Montel Griffin gave Roid hell for like 6 rounds. He just ran out of gas. Calzaghe would've done the same, but he would have never let up. Around that time, Calzaghe hadn't damaged his hands yet, either, so he could have put full power into his shots. Roid always had trouble with fighters that kept him on the ropes.

    Calzaghe KO 9 Roid.

well i wouldn't say that in general. maybe some. i have no problem admitting roy weaknesses, most notably his resume and the absence of certain names. there are a number of fighters who would trouble roy at any time in his career, even his prime. calzaghe just isn't one of them.

He deserved it because he should have been retired.

Its a tough decision to make but to go from where he was to now is sad to see.

I think not only would Calzaghe have beaten him in his so-called prime, I think Collins or Michalzchewski would've gave him fits. We'll never know, as Roid chose to fight rent-a-cops and turds most of his career.
