i get very angry at the lack of skills in it. The last few rounds are exciting i will admit i dont rate Castillo vs Castillo 1 that highly for the same reason but that ending is amazing
I don't like Foreman/Lyle either that much though I do like a slugfest generally speaking What about some high speed chess like Buddy McGirt/Pernell Whitaker?
Of recent years here's my top three (off the top of my head): (1) Chico - Castillo (2) Vasquez - Marques III (3) Sithchatchawal - Monshipour PS: All-time I'd have to have a wee think; saying that I think the three above would hold there own in that category anyway.
Theres so many classic fights that demonstrate different things and depending on what you like as a fight fan will depend on what you think makes a classic fight .. Hagler v Hearns will appeal to fans who like a war, an all out tear up. But is it really a classic fight, its a great round 1 but after that Hagler dominates. Very memorable fight but classic fights are different for me .... Gatti v Ward will appeal to the same type of fans, an all out war were the fighters may lack a certain technical skill but they bring all the heart and courage to the ring that really gets the blood flowing Castillo v Corrales was a very good fight because it had the 'Rocky-style twist' ending but for me this fight didnt compare to a fight like Morales v Barerra 1 .... Truly Classic fights that i have seen include .... Ali v Frazier 1 Morales v Barerra 1 Benn v McClellan Duran v Leonard 1 Ali v Frazier 3 Holyfield v Qaawi Charles v Walcott (cant remember which one because they fought a few times) Pryor v Arguello 1 Marquez v Pac 1 Holyfield v Dokes But the number 1 fight i have personally ever seen is the 1982 WBC Super Bantamweight showdown between Wilfredo Gomez and Lupe Pintor. Every fight fan has his/her favourite fight, no-one is right or wrong, its just what each individual fan looks for in a fight ....
Gomez vs Pintor waht an amazing fight with an amazing end Gomez was so skilled and he showed lionsheart that night
I think Chavez v Taylor 1 is a classic fight too .. It maybe remembered for a perceived controversial stoppage but that fight was a real clash of styles. The ultra skilled, ultra fast Meldrick Taylor against the ultimate durable tough guy, Julio Cesar Chavez .. Taylor comes out and is treating Chavez like a target, firing in fast and hurtful shots and totally dominating, Chavez is mesmerized. But slowly and surely Chavez sucks it up, sticks to his gameplan and starts to break down Taylor's body with his trademark bodyshots .... Its a truly great performance by Chavez, having to face that early fire from Taylor but digging deep and eventually breaking Taylor with 2 seconds to go .... A classic, memorable fight ..
Absolutley spot on..... MAB v Morales from Feb 2000 and Chico v JLC... it don't get much better than that for me........:bbb :yep
