I am guessing the 40 odd knock downs in a Paris, Jeanette/McVey bout were at least interesting! But being realistic and talking filmed fights; Hagler/Hearns and Arguello/PryorI have to be up there. All British? Well what about Benn/EubankI; Ayers/RigbyI or for an Area title, Oliver/Mullings.
If you want a slug fest with knockdowns.... have a look at Archie Moore v Yvonne Durell......:bbb:bbb
I've always thought Hagler-Hearns is overrated. I mean, the cut aside, was the winner of the fight in any doubt after the first 90 seconds?
I agree. It was Hagler's fight after that. They packed a lot of high quality action into those 3 rounds, but I don't see how a a fight that was so short has a shot at being the best of all-time.
Overrated maybe - but the original post is a bit misleading. Would I say it was the greatest fight ever, probably not. But it's definitely my personal favourite. That first round was unbelievable, I show it to non-boxing fans to attempt to convert them.
