No Way Marciano Would Knockout Tyson !!! Rocky Marciano and Muhammed Ali Greates Of ALL Times No Doubt !!!
I see him struggling against Ali, Louis and Holmes. If you have a good jab and good movement then you're half way there. But with Tyson it only takes one punch and it's lights out and he was a wrecking ball in his prime. Dempsey and Marciano would be to small and I could see them getting Spinks'ed.
Just guessing as a newb.. Mike Tyson vs. George Foreman = Tyson by decision (going with a "pre-ali troubled adolescent foreman" here) - Both are sluggers but Tyson is too complex for Foremans heavyhanded approach. Tyson has all the mobility, Foreman loses his KO punch but has the better overall weight and power which then count when all shots tally up in the late 3rd and 4th quarter. Tyson would back away and win the judges over with his swarm-hit-hold technique. Both hotheads would make an ugly fight. Foreman gets credit for his Chin too. Mike Tyson vs. Muhammad Ali - I'm with Ali probably, a KO aswell. He's too smart, fast and agile for Tyson. It would be an awesome fight because the good inside fighters did end up catching up with Ali. I think of Ali/Norton 2 when I think this. Not sure why Mike Tyson vs. Lennox Lewis - Early Tyson owns early Lewis so bad. Lewis is lean and hittable. Need to see more Early lewis though. Mike Tyson vs. Jack Dempsey - Great stories with the 2 fighters, it would be a one hell of a spectacle and maybe the biggest drawcard in history. Lampley would have a field day making the visions for this. Tyson smashes his hero in the end.
Way disagree on Tyson vs Foreman. Foreman is too big and too strong for Tyson. Tyson have the advantage in speed along with his own power but i could see Foreman right in Tyson face smothering Tyson with his big body and won't let Tyson breath.
Ali has the best chance of beating Tyson. Louis, Marciano, Dempsey, and Holyfield (from the list above) all get handled. Foreman can make it rough, but punches too wide to be landing with any consistency on the bobbing and weaving Tyson. Tyson vs. Liston is very interesting. Holmes gives Tyson a good fight. Tyson gets inside on Lewis all night long. Tyson can possibly knock Lewis out.
Marciano, Dempsey and Louis all get KO'd with relative ease. They were too small and crude to beat Tyson. Ali gets beat by Tyson for several reasons: stylistically Tyson is all wrong for him. People usually say the opposite but its bogus. Tyson at his very peak fought a lot of boxer-movers like Biggs and Holmes and punished them. They couldn't keep him off of him. Granted, Ali is a better fighter, but he had the same style. He danced around, popped jabs, straight rights and left hooks. To beat Tyson you need a good uppercut, and you need to be able to man-handle and ruff him up a bit. Holmes and Biggs tried to dance around and jab, and look at what good it did them. Tysons style is all wrong for Ali. He's too fast and hits too hard. Tyson - Foreman - For me I have to give the edge to Foreman. Stylistcally I think this fight just doesn't favor Tyson. I think he'd do better then Frazier, and maybe even have a chance to KO Foreman, but I don't see it going well. It would be exciting while it lasted. Tyson - Lewis- Competitive fight. I give the edge to Tyson, but Lewis had a good jab and uppercut. Tyson -Liston - Similiar to Tyson Lewis. Competitive fight, but I'd give the edge to Tyson. Tyson was bigger then Liston (I believe) and that will be a factor. Tyson - Holyfield - Very competitive fight. Holyfield has a lot of determination and willpower, and his style doesn't suit Tyson very well. I would favor Tyson because he was a better boxer at his peak and had the speed/power advantage. It would be a good fight though.
I learned long ago not to waste much time with the delusional Tyson fanatics, but Tyson was mentally weak and would've been broken mentally before and during the match by guys like Ali, Holyfield, Foreman, Lewis, etc
I actually think this fight is more 50/50 Foreman is much slower, easy to hit and leaves himself open, I wouldn't give ANY other HW who fought like that a chance with Tyson.
I would give Foreman a great chance. He's slow of course but his size alone with his body would smother Tyson badly.
Marciano was far from slow, and not so easy to hit. That's myth, he could avoid punches and counter. Tyson threw way better combos than Ali, who often slpped with punches. Also Tyson could cut off ring better than anyone Ali ever saw,
Foreman could win but NOT that way, he isn't much heavier than Tyson, if he recklassly fought Tyson he would get KO'd Tyson is working with alot of skill, speed & power, you just don't fight someone like him recklessly. The way for Foreman to get Tyson would be to use his jab and try to time Tyson coming in, using the uppercut, pushing him back and tying him up when he gets inside. The only place for him to smother Tyson is when he has him tied up, Tyson is too fast and huge of a puncher to be reckless with. Trying to smother Tyson outside of the clinch would get him KO'd IMO, he just doesn't have the speed needed to skillfully do it.
I can see Ali beating Tyson. I can see it the other way around too. Larry Holmes too, possibly. I just don't see Marciano beating him, he's going to get KO'd early. Too small and Tyson is too fast for him.
Dude Marciano is one tough SOB BUT he is giving up too much in the way of speed and skill to handle Tyson, furthermore I doubt he would've beaten younger versions of Louis, Walcott or Moore. Ali had the foot-speed and movement that would've given the best version of Tyson hell.
:fire People on this board know exactly what gets me pissed off. 1) Tyson does not beat a prime Foreman. Plain and simple. You forget a prime Foreman was as feared as a prime Tyson, if not more so. Tyson's biggest weakness was his mental makeup. Tyson had the most success when he fought guys that feared him. That would not happen with Foreman. Foreman chewed guys up that had to brawl and get inside to win. You want a fighter that gives Foreman trouble you pick a crafty boxer, not an inside fighter. Styles make fights and this fight would be all wrong for Tyson. 2) Don't know about 1st round, but Tyson wins. I like the Rock, but he's just too small. I think Tyson probably beats Dempsey too. 3) Think this would be a good fight. Frazier has much more heart than Tyson but Tyson is quicker. How Tyson would handle any adversity is really the big factor. People forget Tyson was a beast but he really didn't beat any great fighters in there prime. The rest of the guys beat Tyson, except maybe Liston but that is Tyson's only real shot. I get sick of this Tyson is God obsession. Yes he took the 80's by storm with his wins, but really he beat a lot of tomato cans, it just so happen to be in impressive fashion. When he faced adversity he crumbled... You'd have to think that facing these all time greats adversity would come over and over again.
