It is precisely because Pac is negotiating in a position of strength because he is the main draw. Being the P4P #1 and PPV fighter , he can impose what he wants. If Cotto can't agree, then there is no fight. It's as simple as that. For the stature of Cotto and Pac, titles come in second. It's more of what they can get out of this fight. Sad to say, boxing is business and livelihood for most of boxers.

At 16 both were weighing 106 and fighting in the same weight class.

Pac fighting shitty pros, Floyd fighting top amateurs.

    Floyds comp > Mannys

Also. Manny weighs more than Floyd now. Ty

Same way the fighters at LW bloat to 140-145 come fight night. Or FW going 140.

So, there is no problem for you if Cotto weighs in at 147 before the fight night? That's good then.:good

So Cotto losing 1 pound (he was 146 against Clottey) will make him a weight drained bones sticking out his skin walking zombie!

    mmm, ok then! :rofl

I think everyone's starting to lose it a bit. It's only 1-2 pounds get over it. We have a great fight to watch.

    1lb is nothing?

So why couldn't Castillo make weight in the 2nd fight agianst Corrales?

Why couldn't he lose 1lb after he came in at 138?

Cotto's nutritionist said 145 was the limit. Now Pac wants 143? :rofl

THATS the risk a fighter takes when they decide to challenge for a title in a higher division. They hope that their skills will offset the size advantage of the opponent. Every fighter that has ever move up has faced this, yet 99.9% of them didnt feel the need to try and mitigate that risk by imposing a fraudulent weight limit.

Roy didnt do it when he went up 25 pounds to fight for Ruiz' HW title.

Hops didnt do it when he went up 15 pounds to fight for Tarver's LHW title.

JMM didnt do it when he moved up to challenge Casamayor.

Cotto didnt do it when he moved up to challenge Quintana.

Judah didnt do it when he moved up to challenge Spinks.

Darchinyan didnt do it when he moved up to challenge Agbeko.

Haye didnt do it when he moved up to challenge Klitschko.

Roy didnt do it when he moved up to challenge James Toney.

Tito didnt do it when he moved up to challenge David Reid.

Wink didnt do it when he moved up to challenge Tito.

I could go on and on and on, but you get my point.

Now compare this with the very few examples in the last 10 years of having catchweights in title fights and you tell me if its the right thing.......

    I think a campbell-pac at 138 is fair...

WRONG. Pac wants to be able to call himself a "7 division champ", when in reality if he were to beat Cotto then "6.5 division champ" would be more appropriate.

Do you think for one second that if Cotto didnt have a WW title that this fight would even be discussed by Team Pac? hint: it wouldnt.

but dont forget about the other demands of team pac.....

    1. Nate has to wear 16oz gloves, Pac gets to wear 8's.
    2. Nate cannot throw more than 20 punches per round
    3. The split is 98-2 in Pacs favor
    4. Pac gets three "time-outs" that he can use at any time during the bout
    5. Nate must offer Pac at least 3 "Peden free shots" in each round.
    6. In the event of a knockdown, Pac gets a 45 second count, Nate gets 3 seconds.
    7. Nate must buy 1,000 copies of Pacs crappy CD
    8. In all press interviews and 24/7, Nate must bow before a photo of pac.
    9. Nate has to agree not to use any head movement or footwork.
    10. Nate has to agree to allow pac the first shot in any exchange

That should "even up the playing field" enough for Team pac.....lol

    So powerman.

It's not okay for Cotto to add 11-13lbs (even though hes never hit 160 while at 147)

But its okay for Pac to add 15lbs at 130 and 135?

Believe you me, whatever the results of the negotiation are as to weight and purse, this will be hyped as a welterweight title fight. Arum won't be called the best promoter pound for pound for nothing.

Cotto with or without title is hot contender for a #1 P4P Pac's lottery fight especially if he belongs to Top Rank.
