I don't think Foreman could fight at 200 lbs.

What about Louis and Ali though? As everyone knows Louis was around 200-205 lbs at his best. Ali weighed 202 lbs against Henry Cooper in 1966.

Frazier was 200-205 in his prime.

Yeah, Louis and 'smoking Joe' basically were cruiserweights by today's standards..... man if they were about today then cruiserweight division would be the new heavyweight division!

On George , exactly ... look at the legs ..

    Ali,no way ...

Did Frazier ever fight under 200 once his career took off ? I think that extra four or five pounds was huge for him ... what was he for Chavalo ?

    Agreed.

Don't you think Ali could drop 2 lbs from what he weighed against Henry Cooper?

Frazier was 203 against Ramos, Quarry and Bonavena II.

He weighed 199 in this fight:

There are a handful of contenders in the argument, but as I have stated before, I will restate...

I will take Marciano over any sub 200 fighter ever.

Over a young Clay, over a young Frazier, over RJJ, over Dempsey and over Holyfield.

If you weigh 215 then you can sweat down to 200 and be 215 again on fight night without sacrificing anything.

Frazier could do it without trying.

Ali could do it. The only question is if he would loose something.

Foreman might be able to do it.

I don't buy Foreman at 200. That's too much weight for him to lose in the first place but certainly too much to lose and gain back. Ali when he was Clay? Sure but he wasn't ready for the elite at that point. Frazier? Yes, but he was vulnerable to bigger, powerful hitters.

What about Jersey Joe Walcott? Under todays rules, wouldnt jersey Joe Walcott have defeated Marciano by UD? If so, Rocky might never have ever had the chance to win the world cruiserweight Championship under modern rules!

Ali weightedt hat light for only one title bout and her was rail thin ... against Liston 2 - Folley for the most part he was 212 or so and just growing .. he was in his very early 20's ... didn't Rocky weight in at 178 or so early in his pro career? It's like saying he should have been a light heavy ...

I am not suggesting that either fighter should have fought in a difarent weight class or would have done today.

I am saying that the currnet system is such that they could have manipulated it in that way. It would simply depend what lengths they were willing to go to to get in a lower weight class.

I wonder what Foreman, if he was around today.... with the same hunger and determination has he had in his prime.... along with today's advancments in nutrition and training would weigh in at?

    Thats a good question.

He could probably bulk up to 230 lbs and still be in peak condition.

He might just be able to sweat himself down to 200 for a cruiserweight weigh in then rehydrate back up to 21 for fight night.

It almost seems today like you can make any fighter any size.
