Why aren't the IBF and WBO Super Middleweight Champs Invited to the Super 6 Tourney?

I was just wondering how only the WBA and WBC Super Middleweight Champions were invited and not the other two belt holders of the IBF and WBO. I do not know much about Karoly Balzsay and what the deal was between Bute and Showtime.

If all four belt holders are not there, what is the point of the tournament? I was hoping for an undisputed super middleweight champion to capture four belts and the lineal ring title that was last held by Joe Calzaghe.

So what will be the final outcome of this tourney? A unified WBA and WBC Super MW champ but not undisputed?

Yes, the first three (or 4) in the tournament are likely considered the 1, 2 and 3 in the division after 2011. Bute will probably be fourth if he beats Andrade. The things is that the fighters in the tournament will meet top level competition which Bute will not - simply because they are occupied in the tourney.

Needs to be more fighters. I think this could be fixed, I sure hope not, but something smells.

Sauerland (who promote Kessler and Abraham) have an option for a title fight with Bute and own some of him, so why put him in the tournament "for free" if you've paid for an option for a fight? They want the winner to fight Bute afterwards so they can cash in on the huge hype there would be for such a fight.

Too complicated to do so plus, even if they did, it's likely someone would have been stripped anyway. The tournament has been designed to put a series of good fights together which can only be a good thing.

bute has had the chance to fight froch and kessler in the past and has chickened out, balzay is a fairly new champ and is probly still a bit green for this tournament.
i bet you they dont fight each other while this tournament is going on aswell.

There's every chance the IBF and WBO refused to sanction the tournament - i know the WBC have said that they won't impose any mandatories during the tournament and will sanction it - maybe Bute and Balzsay wanted to but were told they'd be stripped if they did?

I saw it on the fight news website, but Gary Shaw read aloud a letter from old Jose saying that the organization will cooperate with the tournament's rules.

It may also have something to do with the fact that Showtime needed some americans to make up the numbers, otherwise there may be a lack of interest from casual fans in the US.

Who's to say they weren't invited, and just turned it down?

I'm impressed they've actually been able to set up this much. Boxing orgs would rather eat their own legs than work with a rival most times.
