3 to 4 mill is good money. And every one of the fighters who entered the comp believe they can win. That is the real reason you have no interest. Showtime didnt ask you because your ****. And you know you have no hope of winning. I have just lost all respect for you because of these comments. This comp is the best thing to happen in boxing for a long time. So stick your negative comments up your over rated arse. And for the record one of the fighters is moving up from middle weight to be in it. And isnt jermain got more balls than you taylor an ex middle weight. So whats your ****ing point. *****.
Although Pavlik has been out of the spotlight in recent months, he still considers himself one of the five biggest names in boxing. :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl
boo, what did arum know and when did he know it??? he had to have gotten some sort of hint that something like this tourney was going down.
I'm not sure myself. Unless they're utterly outclassed in all their matches I don't think they'll actually lose anything it is after all a round robin system and everyone fights everyone so hopefully no one will leave without 100% losses. Plus the fans know how much heart these guys are showing going into this tournament; its commendable they believe they are the best and are willing to put it on the line to prove it so I don't think the fans will think any less of them if they lose close matches they'll always be contentious for prestige in such a circumstance. Anyway Pavlik's comments were shocking! I always suspected he had this mentality but I have to admit I didn't think he'd be so forthright with his views. I rip into him because I saw him like this but hearing it from the horses mouth has a bitter taste to it. Dissapointing. The Illusion of a sportsman was better than the reality of a twat :nono
Pavlik is wrong here on many counts. The winner of this tournament will be propelled to superstar status. Can you imagine the sponsorship deals they'll gain, not to mention that they will be King of probably the richest division in boxing. It makes perfect sense for these guys to stage this tournament, it will reinvigorate the sport and is great for the fans. Sour grapes from Pavlik whose only viable option now is Paul Williams.
Pavlic is 2 monumental **** for saying this. I hope he gets his arse handed to him again them if will be lucky if if is fighting for peanuts after that. What a WANKER
That interview makes Kelly Pavlik sound awful. HE couldve easily fought Abraham on HBO if he was interested, but he wasnt. Now he is stuck in a dead division, making millions on HBO to fight absolutely nobody. He is naive if he think he can mantain a HBO fight the 160lb nobodies, his future is at 168! Im more dissapointed Bute hasnt taken part fo the tourney surely that would make more sense than Dirrel/Ward.
No -- he could not have "easily fought abraham on HBO." That idea is an absolute crock of ****. If it's true, tell me how much HBO offered for the fight. Sauerland had no problem producing specifics of his offer to Sturm. He posted a SIGNED FAX on the internet. He has NEVER produced any specifics of an offer to Pavlik. In fact, he admitted to Dan Rafael that they never even offered Pav a fight in Germany. Ya -- they wanted the fight in the worst way, but never offered it in Abraham's biggest and most lucrative market. Sauerland is a snake that played Top Rank and Team Pavlik like a fiddle while planning something completely different behind the scenes. Pavlik's remarks are indefensible, but I'm sure the realization of how badly he got played is part of what lies behind them.
Someone please explain these "fees" to me. Article said Pavlik would earn 1 or 2 million for Sturm but "would only clear 300,00" How does that work? So suppose a lower rank boxer makes 30,000 for a fight, does he now OWE someone 670,000? I don't get it.
Poor form from Pavlik. I'm not going to hang him just yet, on the basis of one article, but he sounds like a lot of people when fame and money go to their head.
HBO offered a total purse of $2 million. 50/50 split means each fighter grosses $1 million. The manager gets a cut, the trainer gets a cut, the cut man gets a cut (no pun intended.) The WBC, WBA, and WBO get their sanctioning fees. Plus travel, food and lodging, et. It's just a matter of ordinary business expenses that add up fast.
Yeah I remember that that annoyed me him not giving Hopkins credit. What did he say? Something like "He's not better than me, that wasn't me in there you saw that" The reality was Hopkins was SO good he took Pavlik's game away.
I just re-read the article. It's a little off the wall, but it is a very long way from the worst stuff I've heard from fighters. Sounds like he's just frustrated and angry.
